"The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear."

There were once many very powerful empires in this world who everyone respected; three of many of these nations were named Germania, Rome and Greece. They had it all: Power, wealth, fame and Glory- as did anyone else who was as strong the trio.

The one who is significant to our story now though is the mighty and beautiful Greece; she was also known to some –like Grandpa Rome- as Mama Greece- or if you knew her well, Athena Karpusi.

Mama Greece was well know and loved. She was powerful- since she was her own empire- and she was also able to stand her ground on the battle field; she was smart and literate and artistic, for she had many myths, legends, plays, artworks, philosophies and philosophers to her name; she was wealthy, cultured and very beautiful. Her beauty was unmatched.

Her eyes were green- they were dark, almost an emerald color that was greener than even the best olive- and they glowed as beautiful as Selene's moon, her hair was long and smooth and dark brown and, although always up (as was the custom) it still managed to somehow fall down her pale shoulders and back.

Her features were beautiful too, as they were small and porcelain; and her clothes were always nice as well; her jewelry was bright and it shown like the sun on the Mediterranean, and her togas were always crisp and stainless. She was perfect.

She was also a mother.

Her son –Heracles Karpusi- was the striking image of herself; he, like her, had eyes so green that one would become jealous at the sight of them.

His features were tanner, but still rather porcelain like her own, and his hair was the same brown as hers, and wavy, and… also… curly in places unlike hers… in fact, his curls were similar too… well… some said that the boy's unknown and mysterious father was Rome, but of course, that was only rumor...

Other than that, the pair was perfect, for son loved mother and mother loved son…

Until, of course, the Ottoman Empire came to town…
