Neru Akita walked down the street texting. The her right was her brother, Nero Akita. He was a younger than her but taller. It irritated her to no extent. He walked calmly next to her which only irritated her even more. She tried to ignore him, but several time he would ask her question. If she didn't answer them he would say her name over and over again until she did answer.

"Hey want to go to the new cake shop?"

"No."

"oh look! Street performers! We rarely get any of those. Let's go watch them!"

"Let's not."

"Hey they have the sprinkler's on! Come on lets go play in them. Please?"

"No we'll get wet and we don't have change out clothes."

"Look! It's Rin and Len. Want to say hi to them?"

"How about we hurry up back to our dorms." Nero sighed and finally didn't bother to ask anything. They walked a while longer passing may shops. As they kept walking Neru quickly got bored of walking. That's when She remembered a short cut and they were coming up to it. Neru stopped in front of the alleyway. Nero stopped next to her.

"Why'd we stopped?" Neru started down the alleyway leaving her brother behind.

"It's a short cut. Follow me if you want to get home faster." After a little while Neru heard her brother jog to catch up to her. Soon he was walking beside her again. He looked around the alleyway. Neru didn't know why. There was nothing in the alleyway but trash along the walls and a few empty boxes and trash cans. Why do people leave empty trash cans in an alleyway?

"What's that!" Neru felt her brother lay his hand on her shoulder bringing her back to reality. Neru saw Nero pointing at a trash can. Neru rolled her shoulder to be free of her brother's grasp. She didn't see anything special about the trash can until she saw it move. Neru froze where she was.

When the trash can fell over Neru sucked in a mouth full of air. She held it. She heard something moving inside the trash can. Terror shot through Neru. She was a paw step out of the trash can. Then she saw the rest of the animal that came with the paw. Neru gasped and moved both her hands to her mouth. Out of the corner of her eye she saw her brother blush at the same time she did.

In front of them was a kitten. It had long orange fur. It looked at them with big green eyes. It walked up to them and sat down. It looked up at them and meowed. Neru's blushed got redder.

"That is so... CUTE!" Neru reached down and picked up the kitten. She laid it on its back and held it like a baby. Neru removed one hand from under the kitten and scratched it under the chin.

"It is cute." Nero reached out and rubbed the kittens head. Neru smiled at the kitten. Nero looked around. "Are we going to leave it here?" Neru looked up at her brother shocked.

"No! We'll take it home. The dorms do allow us to have pets." Neru started to walk again. "Come on. We need to get this kitten some milk!" Nero paused for a seconded and smiled at his sister. She may have been mean sometimes but she was sweet at others.
