"Hey, check out this app I got last night." Castle pushed his phone onto Beckett's desk so she could see.
"A mood detector? Really Castle?"
"What? It totally works. Here, I'll show you." He took his phone back and pressed his thumb to the screen. After a few seconds, he removed his thumb and beamed at the detective. "There, see? It works."
Beckett looked at the screen and rolled her eyes. "Happy? Let's not get specific here or anything."
"Well it's true. I'm always happy when you're around." Before Beckett had a chance to come up with an appropriate response or do anything other than blush, Castle was sliding the phone closer to her. "Come on, just try it. You know you want to…"
Realizing that there was no winning this argument (especially since Castle had resorted to puppy dog eyes) Beckett sighed and pressed her thumb to the screen. When her result popped up, she quickly moved to hide it.
"Why Kate, you never told me you were in love." It was too late, Castle had seen.
"What? No, don't be ridiculous. It's just some stupid app on your phone, which doesn't even work, by the way."
"It hasn't been wrong yet…" Castle said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Alright Castle, you caught me." She leaned in closer and darted a quick glance around the room. Excited, he mirrored her actions. "I have a huge crush on Ryan."
Said detective looked up and grinned, "Sorry boss, but I'm spoken for already."
"Well damn." With that, she began to pack up her things for the evening.
"Don't feel too bad, Detective. Many a heart has been broken by Kevin Ryan."
"Turned you down too, huh?"
"It was brutal, but you know what helped me through it?"
"What?"
"Ice cream. Chunky Monkey ice cream. Alexis has some stashed in the freezer if you're interested…"
"Sure, why not?"
"Really? Okay, great! Shall we?" He offered her his arm.
Smiling slightly, she slipped her arm through his, and they walked toward the elevator.
Javier Esposito looked over at his partner. "You've broken my heart too, bro. Wish I got ice cream."
"Dude. Really?"
"What?"
