Axel sighed as he drove the rest of the way home. He had had an awful day at work, his boss Larxene being a bitch, His friend Demyx avoided him all day, and all the customers he talked to on the phone were completely rude. The only thought actually that got Axel through the day was that he could go home snuggle with Roxas and sleep like he would never have to get up again.

He dragged his feet up the stairs to his and Roxas' apartment, it was getting chilly earlier a tell-tale sign that winter was on its way. When he opened his apartment he was only welcomed with darkness.

"Roxas? You home?" his voice echoed in the seemingly empty apartment. Axel took a couple of steps into the apartment.

"SUPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AXEL!" The lights flew on and Axel was suddenly met with what seemed like thirty different faces. Roxas was closest to him holding a cake out in front of him. He almost screamed, not expecting the sudden light or this many people.

"Roxas what's going on?" Axel asked after calming his speeding heart down.

"Axel come on don't tell me that you forgot that it was your own birthday!" Roxas held the cake in front of him, "Blow out the candle!"

Axel blew out the candle, still a little surprised and angry at himself that he forgot about his own birthday. After about an hour into the party, Demyx came up with Zexion at his side.

"Axel, happy birthday! Oh, and I'm sorry for not talking to you all day" He stated it all cheerfully, but that was how he always acted.

"It's fine Demyx, but why didn't you talk to me all day?"

"Well, Zexion told me not to cause if I did then he said I might tell you about your surprise party and I definitely couldn't do that!" He said all without talking a break, obviously nervous about what Axel would think. Axel just laughed.

"Ya Demyx if you had talked to me you would have told me everything" he said, still chuckling. After that Demyx and Zexion left, Zexion said 'happy birthday' never being one to talk much. While Demyx on the other hand never shut up, that couple were such opposites.

Axel ended up talking to everyone; the only person that he really didn't see was the one person that he wanted to see the most, Roxas. Finally though, around ten or eleven, people started to leave and Roxas and Axel were all alone.

"Roxas where were you at the party? I don't think I saw you once since I came in the door." Axel went over to Roxas and hugged him. "Thanks for a great birthday."

"Well it's not over yet," Roxas disentangled himself from Axel's arms, and went into the other room; Axel hesitated for just a second then followed.

"Roxas?" When he opened the door Roxas was getting something out of a small bag, but he moved his hands to fast for Axel to see what it was.

"Sit down." Roxas sat on the bed, and Axel sat next to him.

"While the party was going on I had to go and get your present, I had to special order it and this was the only time I could pick it up." Roxas moved his hands to show Axel his present. It was a beautiful gold necklace, the pendent was an emerald and sapphire stone close together wrapped in gold. It was absolutely stunning.

"Oh Roxas…" Axel just stared at it not knowing what to do yet.

"Do you like it?" Roxas was nervous about what Axel would think about it, he kept fidgeting.

"I absolutely love it" Axel took the necklace and put it on, it sat against his heart, light as a feather.

"Thank you Roxas, for the best birthday ever."
