Things Often Heard by a Member of the Pit
That often confuses us, makes us very mad, or annoys us
From the Band Director
You guys need to play louder no one will ever hear you
Just listen to the drum line, and you'll stay with the band (even though the are always rushing or dragging and blame it on every one else)
Now remember, don't watch the drum majors just listen behind you and play to what you hear
(before a game) PIT GO LOAD UP THE TRAILER NOW OR YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOU STUFF DOWN TO THE FIELD YOURSELF!!!!!
(And after) NO ONE FROM PIT LEAVES UNTIL THE TRAILER IS UNLOADED!!!! DRUM LINE HELP THE PIT UNLOAD (which never happens)
Stop putting clothes pins on everyone's backs
From the Percussion Instructor
Pit you need to learn and memorize your parts by next practice (we had gotten the music about a week earlier)
LISTEN TO THE DRUMLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who put this clothes pin on my back???
From the Drumline
Why are you pushing the Marimba through the mud, don't you know it's bad for the wheels!
Why can't you guys just learn your parts it's not that hard! (most of us play oboe)
Pit, all of you are going to have to work really hard if we want to place first in percussion this year
(About 5 minutes after the previous comment) You guys aren't even really considered percussion
Stop putting clothes pins on the drum captain's back, he is your section leader
Who put the clothes pin on the percussion instructor's back, he hasn't noticed for an hour?
From Woodwind Players
I still don't understand why you can't march with you oboe it's so stupid
I never see you any more your always with the percussionists
You are so lucky you don't have hats they make your head all sweaty
Did you just put a clothes pin on me, can I have one to put on someone else?!?!?
From Brass Players
You guys aren't even really part of marching band, you don't even march
Why don't you just march with your oboe, never mind I don't like the sound of oboes anyway you might as well be in pit
DON'T YOU DARE PUT A CLOTHES PIN ON MY BACK!!!!!!!
