My Boyish Days
By Kira Aoki
Pairing: Mostly one-sided Remus/Lily but there are mentions of one-sided Sirius/Lily, too.
Summary: He's tragedy and she's perfection. He remembers his boyish days with the pictures she took
Remus carefully leafed through the pages of a leather bound photo album. He was seated on the only cushioned chair in his living room of shabby, mismatched furniture. There were two mugs of tea on the oak table, which if one was observant enough, was tilted slightly to the left. One of the mugs was half-full and the other one was hardly touched. The latter mug was on the lower side the side where the divan was positioned against the bare wall. The divan was occupied by one Sirius Black who was curled up on one side and muttering words in his sleep. He looked almost young again but scars from Azkaban were visible and made the illusion wither. He was clad in a set of pyjamas that were once his borrowed and never returned by Remus until that evening when he'd turned up at his backyard on the hippogriff named Buckbeak. There was a faint, fleeting smile on Remus' face. It was almost like old times before Azkaban. Almost. There was a gaping hole between them now. A void that could only be filled by Lily and James; the light that Lily shone with and the laughter James could bring from her. They all loved Lily. She loved them all back. But she still loved James more. And it showed as he scanned the album she'd given him for a graduation present.
Remus still remembered when Lily had become obsessed with photography. Almost every girl he knew had gone through that phase. He still remembered the way she'd bring out the Muggle camera and take a shot of all the Marauders or him or James. Mostly, he remembered when she took James' photographs. It was when he was having a solemn conversation with Sirius. He knew Sirius felt the same. He knew that Sirius watched and loved her as much as he did. Maybe even more than James did. He couldn't possibly tell. So, they had their Solemn Conversations lined with unwanted jealousy while Lily and James had a laugh, shared a kiss, and talked. Well…most of the time. He was never surprised that more than half her photo album had James in it. Sometimes he was alone, other times he was with one or all the Marauders. Remus had a few solo pictures in there too, of course. She was his best mate as Sirus was James'. No matter how unconventional it seemed that he was a bloke and she was a girl and they were nothing more than the best of friends. But that didn't stop him from being jealous. A handful of those pictures were of him alone, possibly reading, writing or doing something "boring" while the others were out pranking or brawling. But more often than not, he was with Sirius. Sirius didn't have any pictures alone. He supposed it should have made him feel better. But it didn't.

Author's notes: I was inspired by the title of the New Wave Album they were advertising on the radio. This came about. Hope you enjoyed it.
