A/N: For Shira Lansys Word Count Drabble Challenge. Oh, yes. IT'S BACK, BABY. Prompt was magical. Word count was exactly 247 words, which this is, no matter what tells us!
The moon is full and the sky is clear. You're perched on the edge of the astronomy tower with Cho in your arms and you're sure that you've never known magic like this.
You notice Cho's warmth along your side, where she slots into you like a missing puzzle piece. You can feel her breathing, sure and steady, and that calms your racing heart just long enough for you to tell her that you love her.
She smiles in answer, and kisses you as lightly as the gentle midnight breeze that tosses your hair.
You feel her delicate fingers curl around your wrist and, as that sweet kiss ends, Cho turns her head towards the sky.
"It's magical, isn't it?" she asks, but you don't answer. You're too busy counting the stars that shine in her dark eyes. You watch them twinkle and glitter like precious gems set in dark stone, and you want so much to kiss her again.
But she speaks.
"Cedric. What if it all goes wrong?"
"I won't let it," you murmur into the curve of her ear. You pour all of the confidence you have, all of the belief you wish you had, into those four syllables. You kiss her before she has the chance to ask again, to make your mask slip, your cracks show.
You don't tell her that if it does go wrong, you know what will dance before your eyes as you die.
And it's not the stars.
