Anonymous asked: Romerica! Something (anything!) in which Alfred is fondly tied to his southern roots and Lovino is there to be freaked out or having fun. Also, wooing please. I would love you forever. /guilty pleasure Anon/
((I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for, but it's the first thing that came to mind! I've actually got family from the south, so this is what really stuck with me from when I visited them. I hope you like it!))
Alfred sat back on his porch swing; the air was thick and hot as the early evening stretched across the grassy yard. Lovino stood nearby, leaning against a pillar. Fireflies flitted around them.
It'd been a long day—Alfred had had his entire family over for a barbecue in the early afternoon. Matthew had brought his boyfriend, and Matthew's boyfriend had brought his brother, and Matthew's boyrfriend's brother had brought his boyfriend, who had in turn brought his brother, Lovino. Alfred smiled over at him; Lovino's face was contemplative and smooth. In the low light of dusk, he hardly looked real.
Even though he wanted to say something, a calm and lovely silence had settled around them. He felt comfortable and at peace.
Crickets started to sing in the grass, and Lovino shot him a brief glance, catching Alfred grinning at him like a loon. Alfred gestured to the empty spot on the swing beside him. For a moment, Lovino's face pinched with something—nerves or embarrassment—but Alfred just scooted over to give him more space, and Lovino settled down beside him.
It wasn't serenading or long-winded expressions of devotion; Al had a feeling that Lovino wouldn't appreciate those. So, instead, they sat together and watched the moon rise.
