Ikin heard the glass shatter

A/N: The actual author is Nate, but I'm going to put this up as some character background…

NB: the word/kanji 'iki', meaning 'to go (on a trip/ away)', when unconjugated, has an 'n' sound at the end, hence 'Ikin'. Just a little grammar he told me about yesterday… hope it helps.

Ikin heard the glass shatter. He emerged from his room to see his parents stapled against the wall with kunai knives, and a dark figure wearing the robes of Akatsuki standing before them, stroking a dragon. With a swift flash of claws, the dragon cut his parents down, and they fell to the floor dead. Ikin screamed, and the figure turned on him. The claws flashed once again, and Ikin's face was aflame. His blood spattered upon his dead mother's scroll, and, fulfilling the contract, Suki was summoned and barred the claws with her shell. The figure leaped off into the night, disappointed, but with a filled quota. Ikin gathered up his father's scroll, as well as his mother's, and his own and went to bed, horrified.

Ikin graduated at the age of 8, and was able to summon his mother's snail, his father's eagle, and his own hummingbird.

He became a chuunin at the age of 10.

He also became an ANBU member at 14, and stumbled upon the same Akatsuki that murdered his parents. He, without hesitation, summoned his hummingbird and shot it through the intruder's heart, ending his life. He took the scroll carried by the Akatsuki member, as well as his hitai-ate. He gained the ability to summon the dragon, Ginryuu.

Ikin joined and became the leader of INPE at 14.
