Title: The Postcard
Summary: Just a little piece I wrote whilst thinking about where I want to go holiday and what might happen between the end of season 4 and the start of season 5
Disclaimer: Checked again and still don't have any claim to the characters.
Sara sat on the sand and stared out across the ocean. The only sound was the waves lapping on the beach. She was so glad that Grissom had insisted she take this vacation. As she started writing a postcard her thoughts drifted gently back to Las Vegas and what the guys would be doing now.
Greg was probably in his lab, drumming a tune out on the table top whilst waiting for DNA results to print off. As the paper rolled out of the printer she imagined him reading them, punching the air in victory and racing towards the break room. Sara often thought that because Greg's job demanded patience and accuracy, he deliberately did everything else in his life at top speed.
As he bursts into the room Warrick and Nick will be going through another scissors, paper or rock game. Probably to find out who would walk the few feet to the coffee pot and get them both a cup of coffee.
Catherine would be desperately wading through paperwork in the vain hope of getting home to Lindsey at a reasonable time. She would be smiling as she thought of her daughter. The smile would broaden further when her thoughts drifted to Chris and she once again realised how luck she was to have found a guy who worked the same kind of crazy hours she did.
Brass's head will pop round the doorway to see if any of the nerd squad were free to help the real crime stoppers process a scene. He'd then saunter of with a grin having caught the annoyed look on Nicks face.
The only person Sara didn't imagine at work was Grissom.
She returned to writing her postcard.
Hi Guys, Hope you're coping with the extra workload. This place is paradise, highly recommended for recharging the batteries. See you soon, don't work too hard Sara and Gris, xx
Sara lifted her head and smiled at the figure ambling down the beach towards her. Yeah, definitely paradise.
