A/N: I have no idea where this came from and I wrote it!

The CEO of Kaiba Corporation stood impassively in the massive office that denoted his rank. Staring out the floor to ceiling windows he tried to make himself numb to the latest loss he suffered.

They'd shot him. His brother, the only family he had left. Everyone said it was a tragic accident, one that could not be avoided, that didn't make it hurt any less. Saying that it was the wrong place at the wrong time did not make him any less dead.

His brother was gone; after all they'd been through together he was gone. And this time wasn't like Duelist Kingdom where a miraculous rescue would reunite the tiny family once again.

They really only had one another for all of their lives. With their mother dying so soon after Mokuba's birth and their father constantly working, they'd looked out for one another at home. And when they were at the orphanage they vowed never to leave each other. The pair had only survived Gozoburo's tyranny by being together.

But now?

The only living Kaiba leaned his forehead against the glass in his grief. He wanted to fall to pieces to let the uncharacteristic anguish that was permeating his mind body and soul flow out of him in a mighty flood…

But he couldn't. His brother had a dream. And he would do everything in his power to make that dream a reality. He owed it to him. He turned away from the windows and turned on the computer sitting on the desktop. He clutched at the card-shaped locket around his neck for a brief moment and closed his eyes, whispering to the heavens, "Don't worry, brother, I'll finish what you started. I promise, Seto."

With that Mokuba Kaiba, now CEO, began to make good on his promise.
