"Let the silver and steel be the essence, let the stone and the archduke of contract be the foundation. Let my fate be in accordance with your sword, as I summon you, the future king!" A man screamed as the library he was inside of filled with a dazzling light. Covering his eyes he looked up to see in front of him a short man covered from head to toe in armor. The man stood from his bow, the metal armor clanking with each movement and a large red accented blade in hand. "Is it really you?" He asked with a massive smile on his face looking at the knight in front of him.
The Knight stood up as the armor around his head started to shift and the helmet split into pieces that fused with the rest of the lower armor. Under the helmet a woman's face looked ahead. "My name is Mordred, I once served as one of the knights of the round table." Perfect poise flowed with each word before the stoic face slowly washed away and was replaced with a cocky smile. "So, that makes you my master?"
The man backed up and looked at the table beside him, and started to sift through tomes. "No, no, no. I wasn't supposed to get one of the Knights of the Round!" He cursed himself.
Mordred looked around at her surroundings curiously. "Master, where are we?" She asked turning to see the confused looking man in front of her.
He let out a deep breath. "I had meant to summon Arthur." He said under his breath. "Not his daughter…" He froze as in the next instant the bright red sword was pressed against his throat. "Whoa!" He shouted looking down at the servant in front of him.
"Refer to me as a woman again and I won't be able to stop myself." She said pulling the blade away from him and letting out a sigh. The sword and the suit of armor vanished in a flash of light leaving the young looking woman in a unique outfit that left her entire midsection exposed and barely covering her rather flat chest. "So where exactly are we?" She asked again, the edge to her voice replaced with curiosity.
"The Clocktower." The man replied rubbing his face and looking her up and down. He had to admit, she looked just like the stories he had heard about her in the past. "You're sure you aren't Arthur?" He asked confused.
"He is my father." Mordred replied. "Is the family resemblance confusing you master?" The servant asked crossing her arms and smirking.
"Little bit." The master said packing some of the books on the table beside him into his bag. He grabbed one of the books and put it back where it belonged. "Alright, we better get going, we don't want to get caught here. My teachers would kill me if they found out I summoned a servant."
"Teachers?" Mordred asked tilting her head to the side. "How old are you master?" She rubbed her chin looking the man up and down. He easily stood much taller than her had dark black hair but green eyes that reminded her of her father.
"I'm 21." The mage said pulling his backpack on. "Come on, we need to go." He said turning his head as he heard someone outside. "Help me scuff out the summoning circle." He whispered quickly. The two of them frantically grinded their feet into the carpet hiding the circle from view. After they had finished the duo ran towards the back of the library.
Both of them scaled a book shelf and went out the open skylight above them. "So what's the deal Master?" Mordred asked after the two were up on the roof. "Where's the grail and who do I have to kill to get it?"
The master let out a breath and looked for the ladder he had brought with him in order to get back off of the roof. "There is no grail. I'm sorry I summoned you, but no one is getting their wishes granted." The servant glared. "For some reason all over the world people are able to summon servants, and not just seven, one from each class, I'm talking there are already dozens out in the world."
Mordred groaned before sitting down on the ground with her legs crossed. "Then what am I doing here if there are already so many other servants?" She huffed and looked away.
"I needed a strong servant to help us figure out what's going on here." The master said holding his hand out to help the servant.
Mordred was two seconds away from a mini tantrum but let out a grunt before extending her own hand out and was pulled back to her feet. "Fine, so there's no wish, that's a massive bummer but at least I get to fight right?" She said a bit of hope in her voice.
"That's the plan." The master said turning and walking towards the ladder and quickly sliding down.
"Fine." Mordred replied jumping down to where her master was standing. "So what's the plan? Do we head out and kill some of those servants?" She asked turning around to look at the city of London.
"Not quite." The master said checking his watch. "It's getting late and it's time to get back and get some sleep?"
"Sleep?" Mordred asked frustrated.
"Yeah, I have class in the morning." He added with a nervous chuckle.
"Class?" Mordred asked, her face dropping and her shoulders slumping. "That sounds so boring." She groaned as the two of them went in a different window that led to the dorms.
"Sorry." The master said with a shrug as he led his new servant back to his room and he opened the door for her.
"What?" She asked confused. He moaned, rubbed his face and then walked in in front of her. She followed behind shutting the door behind them. "You know you haven't told me your name right Master?" She asked turning the lock on the door.
"Andrew West." The mage said holding his hand out to the servant. "I'm sorry, I'm just really confused, I did the summoning just right and you weren't who I was trying to get."
Mordred excitedly shook Andrew's hand. "Don't think about it too much, you might hurt yourself." She smiled. "Besides you already have the best Saber there is?"
"I do?" Andrew raised an eyebrow at the petite girl in front of him.
"Of course." She smirked. "I mean I am the future king?" She crossed her arms with a chuckle. "And I'm sure the two of us will be able to take out any of the servants in our way." She narrowed her eyes. "There's one close." In a flash she was wearing her armor again and her helmet locked into place. "Master, let's go." She held her sword up.
"Saber stop!" Andrew shouted grabbing her shoulder. "The servant your sensing is an ally." He said nervously before his eyes widened. "They don't know that." His face turned pale as they heard running coming from inside the halls.
"Attackers?" Saber asked gripping her sword.
"Yes and no." Andrew said grabbing his coat. He also scurried over to the closet and pulled out a few knives that he hid inside of his jacket. Unlocking a tiny safe he also hid a revolver inside of the coat. "We need to go." He said opening the window to his room. "Any chance you can hold me?" He asked.
Saber didn't hesitate, her sword vanished and she scooped up the mage in her arms and leapt out of the window just as the door to his dorm room slammed open.
The two landed on a rooftop across from them but Saber didn't stop running. "Where are we going?" Andrew asked over the sound of the wind lapping against his head.
"We're being chased Master?" Saber replied. "We have to fight them. I can't outrun them while carrying you."
"Shit." Andrew cursed under his breath. "Alright, stop!" He commanded and Saber skid to a halt dropping her master onto his feet and her sword reappeared in her hands.
A man in a deep red hood materialized in front of them. "Andrew what have you done?" The servant asked pulling a knife seemingly from thin air.
"I had to do something." Andrew argued.
"Master, should I kill him?" Saber asked readying her sword.
"No Mordred, you don't need to." He said putting his hand on her plated pauldron. "Assassin I was just trying to help."
"Help?" Came an out of breath shrill voice. "First you summon a servant after being specifically told not to, and then you run." A brunette woman wearing a red cardigan chastises as she walks up to the master and servant duo.
"What were you thinking?" Another voice said as a red haired man with light chin stubble asked walking up to the brunette woman.
"Teachers." Andrew said with a grimace.
"Master, these are friends?" Saber asked.
"Yes." Andrew replied hanging his head.
Mordred stood tall as she could, her sword disappeared but her helmet stayed locked in place. "My master has already expressed a desire to help stop whatever catastrophe is happening."
"So you summon a traitor?" Assassin asked crossing his arms.
"Well that was an accident." Andrew confessed.
"Keep calling me an accident Master and I'll have to prove to you just how capable I am." Saber replied only tilting her head slightly to the mage.
"Fair enough." Andrew added nodding his head. "So, Tohsaka, Emiya, Saber is already here and there's not much we can do about it, so we might as well use he…" He stopped as her armored hand clasped his shoulder. "Saber can be a big help." He corrected himself.
Rin narrowed her eyes at the knight in front of her. "So you're the one who killed Saber?"
"You're going to have to be more specific." Saber replied.
"Artoria." Shiro piped up stepping up to the armored knight.
"You mean my father?" Mordred asked. "I was the rightful heir to the throne but I was shunned from my right."
Andrew looked back and forth with everyone and noticed that even though Mordred's sword had vanished, her helmet still remained on. "We can skip the interrogation part of the night." Andrew said quickly. "Saber is already here, so we might as well just accept it."
"And you!" Rin said pointing at Andrew. "You were told not to summon a servant! Saber will take way to much mana from you, and I know you don't have enough to give him all of his strength."
"Really?" Andrew asked glancing over at Mordred who nodded her head. "Well that sucks." He crossed his arms and let out a sigh. "Why were the Clocktower guards attacking my room?" Andrew asked loudly as the wind started to pick up.
"Rin, maybe we should call it a night." Shiro pointed out. "Tomorrow is going to be a long day, so these two should probably get some rest." He finished before giving Mordred a steady glare.
"Fine." Rin said crossing her arms and turning away. "In the morning, my office." She added with a huff.
Back in Andrew's dorm Mordred's armor finally faded away leaving her wearing just the revealing, red outfit. "So what crawled up the princess' butt and died?" Mordred asked jumping into Andrew's bed and getting comfortable.
The mage methodically put his jacket away in his closet in case he needed it again. "She is my teacher, and I was told specifically not to summon a servant, and I did." He let out a sigh when he looked out the window and could just barely see the haze of the ward that would stop anything alive from getting through it.
"Oh well." Mordred said stretching out in place. "It is kind of weird that I'm sleepy." She said before letting out a big yawn.
"Yeah, that's probably my fault." Andrew groaned tilting his head back. "Sorry that you got stuck with a lame master like me."
"Oh shove it." Mordred replied before hurling the pillow beneath her directly at Andrew hard enough to make him take a step back. "No use in talking down about yourself now."
"Guess so." Andrew said with a chuckle, he walked over to the servant and held his hand out to her. "Partners?"
Mordred didn't hesitate, she sat up and clapped her hand into the Andrew's. "Partners!" She said happily giving him a big grin.
