Andy was so proud that he made it this far, however, he wasn't able to share his happiness with anyone.
His family was all the way on the other side country, 1,000+ miles away, including his 3 month old daughter who he only had 2 weeks with before coming to New York.
His older sister, Ariel, who also was the sergeant mother to his daughter, was taking care of her.
However, Tim had good news for him. Since he came within the top 10, everyone was aloud to have a video call with their family.
He couldn't wait. So much so, he managed to poke his finger with his needle, "Ouch!" he cried.
April looked over from her work station as the young man, "Are you alright?"
He was sucking on his finger when he replied, "I got distracted and poked myself."
She smiled, "I know how you feel. I can't believe it's been almost 3 months since I saw my family. This is huge."
"Yeah, I tend to agree," he said as he tended to his finger, "I haven't seen my daughter since she was 2 weeks old."
April looked surprised, "You have a daughter?"
Andy nodded in replied, "Yes, I'm a proud, gay father," he then got into hi bag, pulled out his wallet and opened it up. Right there in front was a picture of him holding his daughter, Andi Lynn.
"She's pretty, but I didn't even know you had partner, let alone a daughter," said April.
"I don't. My sister is her sergeant mother. Don't worry, it's not incest. The eggs belonged to someone else. Don't ask me, she set it up somehow," he smiled.
"That's pretty cool. Think she'll be a fashion designer like her father?" April questioned.
"I hope so, but even if she wants to be the total opposite of me, I don't care, I will still love her," he smiled as he went back to work.
Finally, when his turn came, he walked into the room they had set up for the video call and waited for the connection to complete.
One the scene of the 22 inch screen was his sister, Ariel, hold his 3 month old on her lap.
"Hey!' he smiled.
Ariel smiled back, "Hey yourself. Good job on being the top 10."
"Thanks. What is she doing?" he asked as he watched her lean back in Ariel's arms.
"She discovered her feet a few days ago," Ariel replied.
Andy looked sad, "I've missed out on some much. Maybe...Maybe I should drop out."
"Andy, you are doing this to try and make a better life for yourself. You aren't the only one who missed out of their children's life. Andi Lynn doesn't hate you. She understands. Trust me. Okay?"
Andy sighed, "I know and I do. That's why I keep going. For Andi Lynn, for hopes that I will win and I can make a better life for her."
"You will little brother," Ariel smiled.
Just then Andi Lynn turned around, smiled and blew bubbles, "Papa!' she cried.
He held his hand out and on the screen, "Be good for mama. Papa will be home as soon as possible."
She giggled and turned back around.
Ariel looked at her younger brother, "Be safe Andy."
"I will. Thanks," then the video cut off.
He smiled, "I am a proud, gay father."
