This FanFic was inspired by ある夜の空を仰いで (Gazing at the Sky One Night) comic originally done by R [.?id=544417].

A light breeze brushed against my cheeks as I gazed mindlessly into the burning fire. The flames illuminated the forest around me, as the moon and the stars dazzled in the sky. Italy's voice echoed through my head as I looked over to see his silhouette sitting by the cliff's edge, looking up at the cosmos. It's rare for Italy to be this quiet, I thought to myself, it's a relief but…My eyes wondered back to the blazing campfire. I heard a soft hiccup. As I concentrated on the source of the mysterious sound, it began to sound more like a helpless bird crying for its mother. Reflexively, I scrambled over to the aloof young man as I came to a realization.

"…Hey, Italy?" I called as I grabbed him by the shoulder and spun him around.

No response came from the innocent face, streaming with tears. He looked like a wounded pup, sorrowful as he attempted to hold back the waterworks.

"G-Germany?" He stuttered, "It's nothing…."

He tried to smile as he released held back tears.

"Am I crying…?" he questioned as if he wasn't already aware. "Nights like these are bad sometimes. I remember things from a long time ago…"

All I could do was remain silent as the melancholic boy voiced his feelings and clenched my sleeves.

"Everyone has them right? Times like these… What a face you're making Germany…"

I just embraced the suffering Italy as he told me, "Don't make a face like that, please."

"Italy…" was my only pathetic response.

"I'm always being a crybaby, it's nothing. Why, at a time like this, did you have to notice?"

There was a long pause over both of us, as Italy buried his weeping face into my shoulders.

Stupid Italy, doesn't he know his tears will stain my jacket?

"Germany… " He hiccupped, "Thank you."
