'This was it.' Bucky thought, 'I've got nothing to lose… except maybe my best friend.' As he waited patiently for Steve to return home, Bucky thought about all those girls he would dance with a lifetime ago.

It was always the same. He would arrange a double date for him and that little punk and the two would dress in their Sunday best as Steve would become a nervous wreck and Bucky would secretly wish that things could be different. But as Sam and Natasha had been telling him for months "Things are different now Bucky, it's okay to love who you want."

5:10pm

A surge of panic rushed through Bucky as he heard the familiar 'click' of the door being opened. Bucky waited patiently until Steve joined him in the living room. "Hey Buck," Steve started as he walked through the door but as he looked around the blond saw rose petals, candles and Bucky standing in the middle of it all "What's going on?"

'Well it's now or never I guess.' Bucky decided. Ignoring the heat steadily rising towards his cheeks and the continuous pounding of his heart "Steven Grant Rogers," Bucky began softly "together we have lived through the Great depression, a world war and countless other hardships. But this is by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I love you, I always have and I always will. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is… May I have this dance?"

Steve looked at Bucky's outstretched hand and back to the brunette's stormy grey eyes. Steve took Bucky's hand in his own and whispered "I thought you'd never ask."
