Harry Potter and the Golden Planet
Chapter 1: Scabbers plays the Snitch
Harry, Ron, and Hermione had just finished dinner in the Great Hall and were walking up the familiar marble staircase to the Griffindor tower. There they met the Fat Lady and said " pig's snout" ,and she swung open, allowing them to enter the Griffindor common room. The Weasely twins, Fred and George, were strapping a small red firecracker to Ron's fat rat Scabbers. Almost immediately, Ron ran from one side of the room to the other screaming at the top of his lungs, "noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!." Hermione and Harry were close behind him. Unfortunately they were too late. Scabbers went flying out the open window with bright orange sparks coming out of his tail. From the crowded window space everyone could see a large display of green, red, and orange fireworks so bright the entire castle was lit by the spectacular display. Ron gasped at the sight, but soon was to be seen running upstairs to the boy's dormitory. A few seconds later he came flying down the narrow stairs with a brown shabby looking broom. Apparently he had gotten Fred's quidditch broomstick. He thrust the broomstick to Harry and said "You know what to do." He took the broom, mounted, and flew into the night sky. Harry was rapidly looking for a sign of something furry when he glimpsed something small and gray. Scabbers was falling very quickly, and just when he was about to hit the ground when Harry caught him and leveled himself out on his broomstick. The whole of Griffindor could be heard loudly cheering and whistling. Harry raced back up to the window where it suddenly became quiet, and he could clearly see why. Professor McGonagoll was standing in the middle of the room with a stern look on her face. "What is going on here?!" she said firmly. Everyone told her of how Harry had caught Scabbers in a matter of minutes. " You should all be ashamed of yourselves! The entire castle is awake because of all this nonsense! Fred and George-I hate to do this but 10 house points each from Griffindor. Potter- 15 points, and detention tomorrow night. Now if you will all excuse me I'm going back to bed!" she said walking away through the portrait hole. Sighs were not with-held from everyone. "You did a good job saving Scabbers, but, 35 points!" whimpered Lavender Brown to Harry. Fred and George were too embarrassed by the looks the Fifth year girls were giving them and quickly ran upstairs. Harry and Ron jogged upstairs to get their books for their next class. The books had a cover which had planets of all colors orbiting a bright large golden planet. Hermione joined up with them outside the portrait hole and together ran to the Astronomy Tower in silence.
