Lion King: Simba's Nightmares

"Help! Somebody…anybody…help…" A distraught voice echoed through the gorge.

Tears streamed down Simba's cheeks as he turned back to his dead father, lying under the dead, bare tree. Walking heavily, Simba crawled beneath Mufasa's huge paw, sunk to the dirt and buried his face in his father's dusty mane. Tears stained the cubs cheeks as a dark figure with eerie glowing green eyes emerged from the dark, kicked up dust. A sudden voice jolted Simba. Turning his head slight, Simba's eyes fell upon his uncle Scar, sitting tall above the dead king.

"Simba…what have you done?" Retreating from his father's limp paw, Simba tried to explain the display that laid before his uncles eyes. "There were Wildebeests and he tried to save me." His eyes turned back to his dead father. Sniffling, the cub spoke again. "It was an accident. I didn't mean for it to happen."

The air grew tense as Simba glazed back up at his uncle that now stood inches from the cub. Green eyes and teeth flashed in front of the cubs glossy eyes. "Of course you did." Scar growled his voice guttural and distorted. Shocked, the cub gasped. "No! I-I didn't mean-". "Yes, you did! You were always angry at your father! He never let you do anything you ever wished. You killed your own father! You're a murderer!" Scar cut Simba off, lunging at the cub with bared fangs and black claws.

"No!" Blackness engulfed Simba, the sounds of his uncle's words echoing in the darkness. "Murderer!"

Then Simba found his older self leaning over at cliff's edge, his claws sunk deeply into Mufasa's bleeding paws. A gasp escaped his lips as Simba stared into his father's fear filled eyes. Then a grin slicked over the young lion's lips. Leaning down, Simba softly began to laugh, sinking his claws deeper into his father's flesh. His laughter growing louder, as he watched the pained agony on his father's face grew. Then, Simba snapped his claws back, sending father falling down towards a black abyss, his voice echoing through the thick air.

"Simba!"

Simba's head snapped up, his eyes trying to focus in the mid morning light that entered the den. Gasping for air, Simba couldn't help but feel numb from such a nightmare.

"Daddy?"

The soft whisper made Simba snapped his head down. His young daughter, Kiara stared worried up at her panicked father from the comfort from Simba's paws. Blinking back all remaining thoughts from the nightmare, Simba smiled down at his daughter. Kiara stilled worried about her father but didn't ask any questions.

Stretching, the cub stood and smiled brightly at the morning light entering the den. She took a few steps forward before looking back at her father. A smile grew on her face as the bright sun leaked into the den. "C'mon daddy, I wanna play." She pounced playfully at her father. Smiling, Simba stood and stretched before smiling and pouncing back at his daughter. A burst of laughter rose in the den as Simba playfully chased his daughter and his horror filled dream away.
