Memories of War Collection - Colin Creevey

The camera was faulty. It always had been since the Final Battle. The shutter always half-closed, and every picture had multi-coloured orbs dancing along the sides. But Colin had always loved it. So Dennis had kept it in his cupboard, accumulating dust for the past ten years.

But it was time to part with the camera. Dennis gingerly picked it up, and dried mud fell from where it had fallen to the ground at one point. Hermione had found it while the clean-up was happening, and had given it back to him at Colin's small funeral, held the day after the Hogwarts memorial service.

Colin's name was still etched into the plastic casing, dried dirt caking some of the letters. Dennis wiped away the dirt that smudged the lens, smiled softly at all the memories he had of Colin toting around the camera, smiling and snapping photos. At the same time, memories of the war came back.

Blood, shadows and death, and the overwhelming smell of fear. Death Eaters, their faces obscured by silvery masks attacking them as they both snuck back into the grounds to fight. Colin, fighting bravely, his face twisted into a wordless snarl. And the flash of green light that pierced through the air, and hit Colin dead in the heart, his face forever etched into one of complete calm at his fate.

He breathed deeply, before making his way into the kitchen, grabbing a clean cloth from the sink. Gently, he prised away all the dirt covering the camera, before he polished it till it shined. He admired it once more, before walking into the living room and placing it gently against the mantle of the fireplace, next to and ever-burning candle and a picture of a smiling Colin, the same camera wrapped around his neck.

There you go guys, leave a comment telling me what you thought!
