A/N: Hello! This is for the "music" prompt for Jily Week on Tumblr. I hope you enjoy!

Lily hummed to her stomach as she washed the last plate in the sink. She twirled slowly to the living room, putting away books and straightening cushions as she went.

Just then, the door opened. "Lily," called James.

"In the living room," she said back, pausing her song.

She felt two arms wrap around her. "Hello," said James.

Lily turned. "Hello," she smiled at him. Unwrapping his arms from around her, she lead him to the couch. "How was work?" she asked him, resuming to hum.

"Fine," he said. "I mean, Magical Maintenance has started hurricanes all over, but other than that... we've got a spy who reckons he knows where Dawlish is keeping some maps and that new bloke, Kingsley Shackle-what are you singing?"

Lily paused. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," she said, looking at him funnily. "You've never heard it before?"

"Of course I have," said James. "But those aren't the words."

"What do you mean, those aren't the words?" Lily asked. "It's Somewhere over the rainbow/ Way up high/ There's a land that I heard of once, and so on."

"Not even a little bit!" James said, shocked.

Lily stood up. "Oh, really?"

"Yes, really!"

"You sing it then, if you know it so well."

"All right," James said, getting to his feet. "I will.

"Somewhere over the rainbow

Way up high

The unicorns dance

And they wish to fly

"Oh, somewhere at the end of the rainbow

Leprechauns lie

And they'll trade their gold for wishes

Which will never come true

"Someday-"

"What?" Lily burst out, clutching the sides of her stomach. "That's not the song! Also it's horrible!"

"What are you taking about?" James looked at her like she was crazy.

"Wha-wishes that will never come true? What is wrong with you?"

"Nothing!" James said.

"What kind of a message is that?!"

"The song was written to teach kids about the dangers of other magical creatures! The message is Genies will always cheat you, so never make any wishes!"

"Oh, my God!" Lily said, appalled. "That's-that's monstrous!"

"Well, yeah," said James. "That's the truth."

"You're not supposed to say that!"

"Do you want us to lie?"

"It's not lying! The song is supposed to convey hope!"

"The song is supposed to convey if you want something, do it yourself."

"No!" Lily said. "That is not what you should tell small children. They're supposed to believe in magic and you can't take that away from them!"

James raised an eyebrow. "Lily," he said slowly. "Wizard children... don't believe in magic. They just know it exist."

"I-oh," said Lily, her heart rate slowing. "Yes, I... forgot. Right."

"Magical creatures are just stories in the Muggle world," James reminded her. "So why not make them nice? In the wizarding world, they're real, and you have to teach kids to be aware. I mean... you wouldn't tell Muggle kids that... I dunno, dinosaurs were friendly pets, right?"

"I... no, I guess not. But still, they don't tell us that lions eat kids until we know not to be scared!"

"Oh, come on," James said, shooting Lily a crooked grin that always made her melt. "This baby will be raised by one Gryffindor women and four Gryffindor men. You think he'll be scared of anything?" He pulled her close.

Lily grinned up back at him. "Guess not. But let's just sing Hush, Little Baby from now on, okay?"
