notes - there are birds chirping outside because i pulled an all-nighter (again)... and after watching season one of the fosters in three days, i've decided that i want these two to become friends.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"Can you help me with something?" Jude asks, a little cautiously. "I usually ask Mariana but she went out."
"Sure. What's up?" Jesus responds, quirking an eyebrow.
Jude reveals a bottle of blue nail polish that he was holding behind his back.
"Can you help me paint my nails? I'm not so used to doing my right hand yet. And everyone else is busy."
Jesus looks at the bottle in Jude's hands and then looks at Jude accusingly. "Are you saying that I'm not busy?"
Jude rolls his eyes good-naturedly. "You were staring at the ceiling when I came in. I doubt our definitions of 'busy' are the same."
"Just pass the bottle," Jesus smiles, and Jude goes to sit down on the bed. Jesus lightly punches him on the shoulder.
"Just so you know, I doubt I can do this as good as Mariana, so I hope you're not expecting expert work."
"Nah," Jude shrugs. Jesus unscrews the cap on the bottle and swirls the brush in the glossy liquid, choosing to start with the thumb.
"Wow, this is harder than it looks," Jesus decides after three fingers, his tongue poking out from his lips in concentration as he tries to smooth the polish evenly on Jude's nails.
"It gets kind of easier with practice? Kind of. It looks nicer when someone else does it."
"I see. Don't worry, I'll make your fingers look flawless."
It takes Jesus a few more minutes to finish painting Jude's nails. "Why blue?" he asks.
"I dunno...It's pretty. Feels comforting, or something." Jude says, not really knowing how to explain a colour.
Jesus nods. "I think it fits you. I would go for red, though. Red is hot. Like me." Then he waggles his eyebrows and winks and Jude almost laughs until he chokes.
"Alright, alright, " Jesus says after Jude giggles for a solid minute. "Don't laugh at me. Get outta here and show our moms what a great job I did. Oh, and when people at school ask you why your right hand looks so much better than your left, make sure you credit me. I could make a career out of this."
"Yeah yeah, will do. Thanks, Jesus."
"You're welcome."
