Michelle was feeling particularly accomplished that day. She'd caught a serial killer, saved a little girl from being his next victim, and managed to do it all without one single person being hurt in the dangerous hostage situation.
It was amazing, the feeling of saving someone, one person again. She'd spent years helping the whole country and somewhere along the way, she forgot what it was like to just help a little girl. Today she had been able to place Samantha back in her mother's arms and it made her feel so warm inside, warmer that she'd felt since…since her husband died.
It made her wish for another kind of warmth, another kind of accomplishment and as she passed by Mac's office, she stopped in her tracks to look in at him. He was busy at work, concentrating on the next case because there was always a next case. Suddenly she wanted to be in there with him, she wanted the warmth she felt deep inside while she was with him.
Yesterday she would have ignored the feeling, but today…today, she pushed open the door and went inside.
