Chapter 1
"Kyouya!" Kyouya rolled over, facing the wall. It was summer break! Why the hell did he have to wake up this early!
"Wake UPwill you?! Soon, Kyouya was being roughly shaken. He had reached his breaking point.
"What?!"
"Remember? Yuri's waiting at the park for you, you lazy scum! How could you forget your own date?!"
Kyouya's jaw dropped. His sister was right. How could he forget? He flushed crimson as one of his sisters words replayed through his ears. DATE!?
"S- Shut up! And it is NOT a date and I did NOT forget!"
"Yeah sure whatever you say, just get ready". And with that, she left.
Kyouya strolled out of his home with his IPod, squinting to see the screen through the suns glare. He read the time, August 14th at 12:30; he was late by 30 minutes. He gazed at the dirty ground, letting his gaze slowly move up towards the cloudless sky. The sun shone down from the seemingly endless blue, blinding him. A small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, although he was sick of this unbeatable heat that burned his skin, it was a very pretty day.
He arrived at the park where Yuri was sitting in a swing. It wasn't until Kyouya sat in the swing beside her that he noticed a small, black cat curled comfortably in her lap.
"Hi!" The way her eyes lit up when she spoke always captivated him.
"Hi." Kyouya was grateful to the gods that his voice sounded normal.
She pouted. "You're late, by the way."
"Sorry, I slept in" He gazed at the cat, irritated. He didn't want ask why the cat was ruining his precious alone time with his crush. But Yuri noticed his gaze.
"Oh this? He was walking around and started meowing! So I picked him up!" She started to hum and swang her legs, disturbing the once sleeping cat.
They spent the next hour or two conversing about relatively boring stuff. As the sun began to set, the heat became overwhelming. They sat in silence, lost in their own thoughts.
"Hey" It was Yuri who broke the silence.
"Hmm?"
"I really don't like the summertime" Her eyes were full of sadness, gazing at the ground.
"Why?" She was acting strange. As that thought crossed Kyouya's mind, his gut started to feel heavy with worry.
She pondered for a moment.
"Reasons I guess!" Phew! She was acting normal again!
She started to pet the cat again. With a startled jump; the cat ran, with Yuri tagging along to chase it back.
"Wait there!" She quickened her pace so as to catch up to the cat.
Great. A cat chase. Just what he wanted to do in the middle of summer. But despite his complaints, he chased after the girl. Kyouya caught site of Yuri. But to his horror, she was about to blindly chase the cat onto the road. The horrific thing about it was that the traffic light for pedestrians was still red!
"YURI! WAIT!" Before he knew it, Kyouya was screaming for her to stop.
"YURI! STOP!" The bright red light became blinding as he saw the coming vehicle.
