"You look like a dead little doll" that harsh tone in Asuka's voice was cutting her peace, she didn't know what to do, what was totally strange. Rei Ayanami never felt that way before, she had been feeling a sickened weight on her shoulders, as long as Asuka's sentence was hammering inside her head.
School bell rang, and students left the classroom. While Shinji, Rei and Asuka were walking home, the quiet boy noticed that every time Ayanami looked at Asuka, the owner of red eyes looked like afraid, uncomfortable. There was a tense aura between them, in the lightly cold air.
An almost always silent Shinji took the word " Asuka, you may go ahead, I'm feeling to lazy to keep walking by now"
A proud red-haired slim girl laughed ironically " As always, your level of worthlessness surprises me, idiot Shinji" After her free aggression, she left that two weirds behind.
"Why did you do this, Shinji?" Rei asked him pretending her unbreakable tranquility, what Shinji said made her smile, suddenly.
" I don't know what happened between you two, but Asuka wounded you, didn't she? I noticed this by your looks toward her, and I want to help you, somehow."
In the opposition of the previous coldness, Ayanami was feeling warm. " May I hold you hand, once more?"
A shy yes said by his lips was what she needed to feel alive and secure, too.
