A/N: Inspired by Harry Potter 6's "It feels like this" conversation between Harry and Hermione. One-sided Isabella x Ferb. Reviews are very much appreciated :)
It was one of those days.
The gang had returned to Paris, just because Candace asked a favor that Phineas and Ferb just could not resist. And as Isabella mostly figured out, they would be in the city of love and Phineas would have nothing else better to do than amuse himself with everything that could be used for other experiments and day-siezing opportunities they may have in the future. So, completely devastated, Isabella plopped down on an empty bench, in the middle of a quite park, near a white gazebo where Phineas was explaining how to perfect the act of being a mime to Baljeet and Buford.
And, like usual, it was Ferb who offered her a handkerchief just to console her a little bit.
"Hey Ferb," she started, taking the handkerchief and sniffing a bit, "I thought you were with Vanessa?"
He shrugged, then looked at the opposite direction where a tall girl with long, brown hair was walking away from them. He turned back to Isabella and sat down beside her.
"...Ferb?" Isabella started but Ferb understood. He edge closer to her and allowed her to lean onto his shoulder.
"How does it feel, Ferb?" she began saying, "When Vanessa walks away from you? I know you like her, and I've seen you two together often. But it seems like she has other things in mind. I think I've known you long enough to know who you like..."
Ferb was about to open his mouth to say something when Phineas came running and said, "There you are, Ferb!" he seemed so jumpy, "Wanna act like mimes with me? Baljeet and Buford are getting it and-"
But when Ferb stared at him in the 'dude-are-you-that-dense' look, and Isabella blinked her tears at him, Phineas stopped dead and said, "Oh... Uh... I'll just..." and went running away, and back into the gazebo. Ferb sighed, but didn't say anything. Sometimes, he really thinks his brother is an idiot, especially because he would give anything to have someone be in love with him the way Isabella loved Phineas.
And there it was - he finally admitted it.
Isabella could be spared for all this pain, had she chosen him instead of Phineas. He would love her, take care of her, and listen to her words of love. But then, the talking - the communication - must really be a big deal for her. Sure, they do actually talk, but she seems more into talking to Phineas and day-dreaming about how they would be together in the future. Everytime it happened, he was ignored. Whenever Phineas wow-ed her with his brilliant speeches and 'acts of bravery', he was left to clean up the empty space in his heart for someone else. It felt like the gaping hole in his heart that was opened up by Vanessa, whom he initially really had a crush on, was now throbbing in pain - the pain of seeing Isabella love his brother, the only person in the world he knew he would not and could not compete against. He had to tell her.
"It feels like this."
Except, as usual, Isabella won't understand.
