Rain Thoughts
Ed stood out in the rain, just staring blankly at the ground. Lately all he could think about was his childhood friend Winry, who a week before had passed away from tetanus. The rain started to come down harder, and Ed looked up at the sky. The rain came down on him in light sheets, soaking his clothes and face.
Al opened the front door leaning against the wooden door way watching his brother. Al twirled the pen he had in between his lips around from the tips of his peachy fingers. He sighed; he too mourned Winry's death but, none as much as Ed.
He creakingly opened the screen door. "Ed, come in the house you're going to catch cold!" he yelled. Ed turned his head around to Al, and nodded ever so slightly. He stood there for a few more minutes and went back inside.
"This weather sure did sneak up on us" Ed said as Al shut the front door. Al nodded.
Then the lightening came along with thunder, and shook the windows. Before they knew it they were lighting candles everywhere they needed too being that the already fragile power had went out. Their old dog Den sat beside them happily on the couch.
"I miss Winry" Ed said abruptly looking Alphonse right in his brown eyes. Al couldn't help but tear up a little.
"I know. I do too" he answered softly his small voice shaking. The candles illuminated the room dimly, and put them more at peace. Ed ended up falling into a deep restful sleep that Al knew he needed and did not wake him up. He covered his brother lightly with the brown fleece cover on top of the couch; blew out all the candles and walked up to his own room to get lost in his thoughts.
