Of all the ways Chuck Bass had imagined his relationship with Blair Waldorf might end, this was one scenario he had never considered—her finally tiring of his baggage and ending things herself. He was falling apart, but he couldn't let it show.
Stepping back into the elevator, Chuck tried to memorize Blair's face as the door began to shut—then suddenly the peonies he had brought were gliding through the air, landing at his feet with a quiet thud that seemed to reverberate throughout the elevator. He knelt and picked up one lone petal, stifling a sob.
