Silvers Rayleigh watched in silence as the Strawhat crew sailed off to the New World. He smiled as he remembered his own adventures on the other half of the Grand Line. Fond memories of his crew came to the front of his mind, only to be replaced by even fonder memories of his captain Gol D. Roger.
The man was a crazy fool, but a damn good leader. He took care of each and every one of his members, even the obnoxious Buggy. Rayleigh would be a fool if he tried to say he didn't love the man. He loved him with all his heart.
They had gotten together on more than one occasion as more than friends, but that was all before Portgas D. Rouge entered the captain's life. They had a blissful relationship while it lasted. Roger had been the one to end for the maiden he had begun to fall in love with.
And Rayleigh had let him go.
They had still been the best of friends and Rayleigh had remained by Roger's side as long as his captain had allowed. However, even though he still loved him, Rayleigh and Roger never got together as Rouge and the unborn child she bared had completely stolen his heart.
To this day, Rayleigh would wonder about what could have been if he had just held on tighter, if he had not let Roger slip away.
