Grimmy: Hi! Welcome to 266 words of pure fluff, because that's all this really is. Of course it's short, it is a drabble. It's not tied to Exhiliration or If You Really Love Me, which you should check out if you already haven't. It's just me playing around in the sandbox.
A few background details, they aren't dating. Not in the open anyways. And I'm pretty sure that things like this happen a lot to them. But of course, like I said. This is just me playing around in the sandbox.
I don't own Hey Arnold!
"Well I happen to think you're very pretty," he said, his trademark serene smile in place.
Helga stopped walking and stared at him, eyes slightly wide. Shocked wasn't the expression she was shooting for. She wanted to be angry. She wanted to shoot down his optimistic views. She wanted to... kiss him? And just like that her lips were on his.
If she hadn't been in a state of pure bliss she would have been mildly surprised when he actually kissed her back. Her legs wobbled as she practically fell awkwardly against him, she still had a full three inches on him. He didn't seem to mind though. He actually wrapped his arms around her waist. This had to be dreaming because she was melting faster than the witch from The Wizard of Oz.
She was vaguely aware of the fact that she'd muttered his name as they slowly parted. The kiss induced haze was the only thing keeping her from punching herself in the face. That and his stare. They'd been in this spot many times before. Staring at each other, completely silent.
She punched him in the arm.
Why? Because Helga G. Pataki didn't kiss boys who called her pretty. And like always they turned and continued their walks home.
"You're a sap Arnold-o." She didn't have to look at him to know he was smiling and just for a second she let herself smile too. It was almost hypocritical for her to say that considering she had thousands of love poems about him. But for now these awkward meetings were their little secrets.
