Disclaimer: Avatar the Last Airbender & The Legend of Korra is created by Michael DiMartino & Brian Konzieko and owned by Nickelodeon.
Twenty-eight years have passed since the end of the Hundred Year War. After the war ended, Avatar Aang, Fire Lord Zuko, and Earth King Kuei worked together and founded the United Republic of Nations, where people of all nations can come and live together in peace and harmony.
Sokka served as the Southern Water Tribe Representative on the United Republic Council, and as the Council's chairman, while Toph served as Chief of Police for Republic City. Lin served under her mother as a police officer, while Suyin was in school. Zuko has stepped down as Fire Lord, and his daughter Izumi has taken his place as Fire Lord. Bumi became General of the United Republic of Nations.
As part of the Council, Sokka contacted Aang about Yakone. Aang grew concerned about what was going on in Republic City and decided to investigate.
~"What are you doing here? I told you I have this under control," said Toph, the Chief of Police and who had metalbending cops with her.
~"Under normal circumstances I wouldn't get involved, but if what those victims said is true we're not dealing with a normal criminal," Aang replied with concern in his face and voice.
~"Fine," Toph replied and motioned for Aang to follow her. "Follow me, Twinkletoes."
~"Toph, I'm forty years old. You think you could stop with the nicknames?" Aang asked, as Toph and the cops followed her.
~"'fraid not," she replied as she continued walking. Aang shook his head and followed Toph to a fancy restaurant.
~At the restaurant, Yakone was sitting at the table preparing to eat lunch with two bodyguards standing guard, when Aang, Toph and cops entered.
~"It's over," said Toph. She pointed her finger and said, "You're under arrest, Yakone."
~"What's Republic City coming to?" Yakone asked, then said, "Used to be a man could enjoy his lunch in peace."
~Toph cuffed him using metalbending and made him drop his chopsticks.
~"What's the big idea?" Yakone asked.
~Toph and Aang squatted down to Yakone, and Aang said, "We have dozens of witnesses, Yakone. We know what you are."
~The cops subdued Yakone's guards.
~"Take him away," said Toph.
~"I've beaten every trumped-up charge you yahoos have brought against me," Yakone replied with a smile. Then he said, "I'll beat this one too."
After Yakone's arrest Aang and Toph met with Sokka, in his chambers.
"So, what brings you guys here?" Sokka asked.
"We came to see you, oh great Councilman Sokka," said Toph sarcastically. Then she continued, "Aang wanted to talk to you about Yakone."
"That's right. Based on what witnesses said, it sounds like Yakone's a bloodbender, but he's not doing it during the full moon," said Aang.
"So, how do we prove it?" Toph asked.
"We don't," Sokka replied.
"What?" asked Aang and Toph together.
"The Council just has to be convinced that he is a very rare and unique individual, who is capable of bloodbending without the full moon. It won't be too much of a stretch. I mean, Toph invented metalbending, and that was thought to be impossible. Zuko learned how to redirect lightening, which reminds me of Combustion Man, who blew things up with his mind. And Katara, who was skillful enough to stop Hama. So I don't think it will be too hard to convince them especially with all those witnesses," Sokka replied.
"Sokka you're a genius," said Aang.
"Although he could stand to mention what genius I am, and not group me with a bloodbender," said Toph. "Where is Sugar Queen? I thought she'd come with you."
"She's staying with our dad. He hasn't been feeling well lately, so she went to visit him. Even though there are healers there she wants to see for herself how he is doing," said Sokka.
"Plus, I told her that three of us could handle it," said Aang.
~After three weeks of trial, the Council found Yakone guilty and sentenced him to life in prison. Yakone used bloodbending everyone in the courtroom without using his hands, and he made Toph free him. After she freed him, he used bloodbending to make everyone fall unconscious, except Aang, who struggled against him.
~"Yakone, you won't get away with this," Aang struggled to say as his arms were forced behind his back.
~Yakone laughed and replied, "Republic City is mine, Avatar. I'll be back one day to claim it."
~Yakone knocked Aang back with his bending. Yakone planned to leave in a carriage in by ostrich horse, but Aang chased him and caused the carriage to fall. Yakone got out of the carriage and attacked Aang with bloodbending and approached him.
~"This time I'm going to put you to sleep for good," Yakone said as he moved his arms around rapidly causing Aang's body to rise in the air and contort into different unnatural positions and break Aang's neck before he can enter the Avatar State.
~From Legend of Korra: Out of the Past
AN: I know the Avatar State is a defense mechanism, but for the sake of this story Aang was too busy trying to fight the bloodbending on his own without it, and it happened faster than it did in the episode.
