Break through the Border
"Mother…" A hushed voice resounded through the cold stone walls of a huge dim-lit room surrounded by toys. A young boy, no older than eight, lay upon a queen-sized bed, his pair of greenish-violet panes bleary and threatening to drop down any moment. "Tell me a story."
A soft chuckle could be heard coming from the edge of the bed, and there, on the very same spot, sat a very beautiful woman with a squinted yet gentle pair of violet hues and emerald wavy hair that reached to her waist as she was adorned by golden hair accessories and jewelries. "Yes… Yes, of course."
The woman, as can now be related to the boy as his mother, gently brushed her slender fingers into the boy's red locks as slightly, the boy seemed to relax while the corner of his lips tugged upwards.
"Once upon a time, there was Kingdom called 'Crowned Clown'." The mother started, in which successfully grabbed the child's attention as he right away himself in a sitting position.
"Now, it is alright to simply lie down on your bed, is it not?" Her mother reprimanded in a mild manner, to which the boy replied with a rather cute pout, "But mother, I do wish to hear your words clearly! Your stories are but the best of all and to miss it is such a waste-"
The boy halted in surprise when his mother had suddenly patted his head, "Not to worry, I am sure that you will listen to it until the end." His mother had assured him as she had looked so bemused of his antics. "If you do not lie down, I will not continue my tale and you do not want me to not continue the story now, do you?"
The younger merely breathed out a deep sigh. He swore to the Heavens that his mother could be evil at times. "Alright, I will do as you say…" He muttered, returning back to the thick covers of his comfortable bed.
"Once upon a time, there was a Kingdom called 'Crowned Clown'. It was a prosperous Kingdom blessed by nature because of its breathtaking sceneries and was brightened up by the smiles of its people. It was a truly magnificent Kingdom that stood upon others but as generous and humble in terms of comparison. For many, it was an ideal Kingdom but for a few, it was the purgatory itself."
"Huh? Why would such a fine Kingdom be considered a Purgatory?" The young male queried, quite startled and curious.
His mother, for a moment, had a sad expression crossing her face, "The ones who have statuses have too much pride for their own good. The poor were left on the slums to live like a livestock for the rest of their lives and there was also the underground…"
"Underground? As far as I could recall, It is somewhere where illegalities are practiced such as human trafficking, drug dealings and such, Am I right?"
His mother nodded, "Yes, that's right. And it could happen anywhere. In the markets, the outskirts of towns—everywhere you could possibly consider. And the King of the Crowned Clown had let it be as he drowned in his own riches."
The boy grimaced. He, who was raised around people who brimmed with justice, was unable to tolerate such a person with a horrid character. "He—he's not fit to be a King! A King is supposed to be amazing just like Father!"
"I know. But the King of Crowned Clown lacked the most important attribute of a King. And that lacking of his became the root of hatred for many. There were countless of people who were fed up of his rule, and one of them is his own son, a gallant and strong prince who was rumored to know not of fear. The prince confronted the King and without delay, the King…" The Queen trailed on her words, feelings her lips tremble for a bit.
The boy blinked once, then twice. " Mother? What's wrong?"
The Queen shook her head, "I supposed that I shouldn't have ceased speaking out of the blue. Well, the King right away stabbed his son and that was the signal for the wheel of fate to turn….."
"N-nii-sama!" A girl of about fifteen years old scurried to the side of a young man, holding his chest in which a crimson liquid overflowed from it. She knelt down as her beautiful ball gown was stained by the very same liquid, her hands quivering to help her older brother in any way she could. She was in the verge of crying, her violet eyes containing her tears to which she merely blinked back in hopes for it to disappear.
The young man beside her, having a striking dark azure hair and sharp chocolate eyes, grunted in pain, blood dripping from his mouth. "What are you doing? Hurry up and run, you stupid woman!" He regarded to the girl as he pushed her away, making her lightly slide on the floor.
"Why do you not repay my kindness of raising you?" A man's voice boomed as the young man became frantic, his face swiveling to the side to look at his younger sister, "Hurry up and run, Lenalee!"
"Lenalee is not going anywhere, and so are you, Yu." A man in his forties entered the sibling's line of sight, he had a stern look plastered on his face as he snickered at his son's pitiful state. "Tell me, Yu, why do you reject me?"
"Shut up, you old fart! You're not fit to be a father, much less to become a King!" The now known as 'Yu', retorted fiercely, glaring at the said 'King'.
"That's a shame.." The King raised his hand which gripped a sword trickling with blood, "You were an excellent son, Yu." Slowly, he brought the sword upon the heavily injured prince but stopped when the princess threw herself in front of the said prince, her arms stretched as her violet orbs gazed squarely at the 'King' to whom, was none other than her father. "If you kill nii-sama, then you might as well kill me!" Lenalee stated defensively, her eyes never wavering even for a second and so was her resolve.
Yu's eyes widened by a fraction, "What the hell are you trying to do?! I told you to run!" He tried to get his limbs working for the sake of saving his sister's life but he felt how rigid it has become due to the huge wound in his chest.
"You told me once that you wouldn't leave me…" Lenalee gathered her words as it carelessly rolled off her tongue, "Even if…. Even if you break that promise, I won't break my promise that I will stay with you!" Tears finally exited from the girl's eyes, running down her cheeks," If you're going to die, then I'm dying with you!" She screamed to the top of her lungs but was met with a slap that slammed her to the ground and away from her brother.
"LENALEE!" Yu ignored the pain the wounds casted as he crawled towards his sister but had only gotten half way when a calloused huge palm coiled itself to the prince's fringe and brought him mid-air as the prince gritted his teeth in pain, feeling his hair stripped from his scalp ,"Y-you bastard…. I swear, I—"The prince was unable to continue his words as he felt a cold and sharp metal rammed on his stomach.
"STOP IT, PLEASE FATHER! I BEG OF YOU,NII-SAMA WILL REALLY—" Lenalee begged as she stopped when the sword once again stabbed his brother's stomach. Again and again. She felt her blood running cold. Her brother was dying… No, he was being killed. By her father. By the King of Crowned Clown. By King Levellier….
She screamed and screamed and screamed as her father continued to stab his brother in whom she could feel was already half conscious and still struggling to stick to dear life. She can't bear him gone. She can't bear staying with her malicious father all alone. Her father was unforgivable.
She felt her eyesight becoming blurry as something reddish became more apparent. Her breathing became heavier as her hand crackled in anger. Her father was…. Unforgivable.
Yu couldn't register pain any longer. No, his body was already too tattered and messed up to feel the pain convulsing through. Was he going to die? Was he going to leave his sister all alone for his father to inflict pain to? 'If only… if only I have the strength to…' His eyes which were losing its light in every passing second landed on his sister who stood up, her bangs hiding her eyes.
"Do you still plan on defending your brother, Lenalee?" King Levellier questioned, smirking at his daughter's persistence.
That was when both noticed how Lenalee's skin seemed to radiate and glow brighter and brighter. The gold ornaments tying her hair into twin tails broke into pieces as her hair became a fuzzy mess, a huge gust of wind then circled around her as she levitated, the wind clearing everything near her. And to say that the two spectators were able to feel the massive bloodlust being emitted by the girl and being slightly terrified of it can already cause a person to unhinge their jaws.
Electricity crackled from her skin as something pertaining to a red crystal tearing through her back, arms and legs from the inside grew massively that she could now be almost referred to as an angel. Slowly, the tip of her emerald hair was dyed by white as it reached to her scalp. The fringe has already been removed from hiding her beautiful violet eyes as it revealed not the same lively pair but an empty one. The only word that could define the princess was "Monster".
Yu knows just what exactly Lenalee had become. He felt his father's strong grip loosening as he then heard the door being toppled over. He could see in the corner of his eyes a red-haired man with a mask and a few elite guards that his father had 'trusted'. He couldn't make out of their yells as the red-haired man—that womanizer of a High Priest, Cross, murmured a chant that he recalled as the one that stopped his sister's previous berserk seven years ago.
The elite guards simultaneously attacked Lenalee as they were all thrown and slammed on a wall by the wind and by the crystals that suddenly materialized out of nowhere and dug on their flesh. Prince Yu could feel his consciousness slipping out as he reached a weak hand towards his precious sister. "Le…na..lee…"
A strong pillar of light then surrounded the young princess as it appeared that she was somewhat confused. Cross' lips tugged upwards as he felt victorious, still continuing his chant to seal the girl. The pillar of light reached the heavens, every person in the country who was outside looking at the castle's direction saw the magnificent pillar of light. And that didn't escape the eyes of a few who had a frown or either, a smile projecting in their faces.
A boy of about seventeen ran through the deck of the ship he was on, looking intently at the pillar of light. In his side was a woman with brown shoulder length hair, frowning at the sight she was currently seeing. "Lavi, return to your work." She commanded with a clear voice.
"B-but, Chomesuke—" The red-haired tried to argue but stopped after seeing the seriousness oozing from the girl, "I said, return to your work." She once again ordered, this time, slowly speaking, authority lacing her words.
Lavi nodded reluctantly but still pouted, "Stingy… I was just curious at the light!" He muttered under his breath and retreated. "Hey, Lavi…" Chomesuke called out to which Lavi replied with an exasperated "What?"
"Is the light… somewhat familiar to you?" This time, Lavi fully turned back to look at his captain. He then proceeded to look at the light, "Now that you mention it…. It sort of does. Do you still need me?"
Chomesuke gave him a smile, "Nah, not anymore. You may return to your work now." Lavi then gave a quick nod and left his captain still staring at the pillar of light.
"Hey, Cross.." Chomesuke spoke, "Is it time for me to go now?" He questioned to a particular red-haired High Priest to which was obviously, unheard. She closed her eyes and looked at her men, working their butts off to make the proper adjustments to the pirate ship. Various memories ran through her mind—her every moment with her comrades and when she picked up a certain kid on a town's ruins who couldn't remember anything but his name, Lavi. A kind smile then crawled up as she reminisced, "What a pity. I still wished to spend time with everyone. But it can't be helped, right, Cross?..."
On a roof, an albino with a fox mask covering his face stood. He was wearing a tight pitch black turtle neck as a red coat was draped on the lower half of his body, its sleeve tied together in his waist for it to not fall off. His hair reached to his wing blade as it was neatly tied together by a red ribbon in a high ponytail.
He silently watched the beam of light dissipate into nothingness as he disappeared in the darkness as well.
"Oh! What a wonderful sight! The 'heart' is once more in anguish and had fallen into our side!" A man of about thirties exclaimed in delight, followed with a few snickers and laughter.
"Don't get too excited, Cyril. That beam of light there just means that Cross is once more interrupting. "A man with black hair poked his pinky finger in his ear and started cleaning it, removing his earwax one after another.
"You look gross, Tyki. Why don't you get cotton buds instead of using your pinky finger?" A melodious voice spoke, in which was revealed to have belonged to a girl of about fourteen or thirteen with a spiky hair. "Too troublesome." Tyki replied immediately, making the girl, known to many as Road Camelot, shake her head in hopelessness.
"Truly, if the 'heart' of the human beings' innocence would fall into depravity and be a fallen, it would be too good to be true for us of the Noah Empire. However, that strong light could also mean that our opponent is capable enough as to let that beam of light reach and be seen in another country such as ours." Road stated as a matter of fact.
"Now, don't praise that man too much. The King is nothing, he cannot even serve as a hurdle to our success. However, that High Priest and those belonging to the Council are certainly a threat." A fat man with a huge grin permanently shown on his face laughed his signature evil creepy laugh, "When the 'heart' is destroyed or yet, when the heart would become evil, every living beings that roams the land will become vicious and the world shall enter a dark age where there is nothing but bloodshed and war. And the one who shall rule such world is none other than us, the Noah Family."
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hi everybody, this is my first fanfiction and I know it's not so good. ;A; But I'd really appreciate it if it was to your liking. Oh, and English isn't my mother tongue and to top it off, I'm like, currently in my Author's block; I can't write properly but the plot is tormenting me so... XDDDD It can't be helped.
I only have one OC here and that is, the boy who was being told the story to. Minor, huh? XD Anyway, please R&R and look forward! Sorry for being too OOC! because I swear I'm doing my best to be on character. Oh, and I have no betareader and I haven't even double checked this. XD
PREVIEW: "My name is Kanda"
"Are you alright?" the voice was melodious in a way that it calmed his nerves. Slowly, he opened his eyes, his chocolate orbs retaining the light that it had previously lost. White as snow. A benevolent pair of silver. Red scar tracing a portion of his face. He was beautiful.
"Did you know that you eat like shit?"
"Don't say that when you eat miso that way."
"So what? You're an assassin? You're a fallen? Bullshit. Poor people like us shouldn't give a shit about things like that. You're just making things complicated by divulging on that inferiority complex of yours."
He was like the sun—A sun that could be a guidepost just by standing there.
"My name is Kanda. And likewise."
