Title: It's Your Move

Summary: He would not let himself or Mokuba be left powerless again.
Nights in the orphanage where long and restless; the tenuous stillness often broken by cries from the younger children, trapped in their own nightmares. Seto would lie awake - the silence echoing his own fears - stifled by the uncertainty of where his life would go from here.
Sitting alone now in a towering room, forced to study for hours into the night and separated from Mokuba, he wonders not for the first time, if they had been better off.
The silence, steely, hangs heavy with judgment. And soon it will be shattered when he marches in here, only to replace it with his brashness; barking orders; dictatorial and unquestionable. The mere thought makes Seto bristle, because he will have no choice but to obey.
Certainty had come at a high price. But he would not let himself or Mokuba be left powerless again. So, for now, he'd play Gozaburo's game in gritted silence. 'It's but a means to an end,' he'd remind himself. He only wondered just how much more he'd have to lose.
Author's Notes: Just a quick snippet. I had quite a hard time figuring out what I wanted to write about for this prompt. My main worry is that it may come off as a bit OOC. Can you see this thought process leading to the Seto we know (manga or subs)? I'm just now getting an idea for a Sailor Saturn and Seto Kaiba crossover for this prompt.
