Right now it's 'that time of the month' for Moony. The boys are in the common room an don't know yet :D

"Hey James?" The raven haired boy was slow to look up from his game of exploding snaps, but when he did, he was met by a thoughtful looking Sirius.

"Yes, Padfoot?" he said as Peter took a turn. Sirius carefully folded up the parchment in front of him, tapping it and murmuring "Mischief managed."

"Do ya ever wonder where Remus goes every month?" James' eyebrows tugged into a frown. Peter ran a hand through his mousey brown hair and said,

"He goes to see his mother, doesn't he?" The other marauders turned to the lean boy. Sirius looked at him with a are you serious? expression (no pun intended), and James gave him a look of warmth and sympathy.

"Well, sure," Sirius said, "That's what he tells us." James rubbed his chin and Peter cocked his head in confusion.

"You think Moony would really lie to us like that?" Peter asked in a small voice. James looked between his two friends.

"I think it's fair to say we'll just have to take his word for it." Sirius glared at the other two boys before sinking down into the puffy armchair.

"What if we didn't?" The words are barely more than a whisper, but are loud enough to make Peter gasp and James look worried.

"How do you mean, Padfoot?" Sirius looked back at his friends, the common room fire making his eyes glint in the dark.

"I was watching the Marauder's Map." Immediately Peter sat up a little taller and James sunk into his seat a little further sill concerned by Sirius' tone.

"What did you see?" James says, not looking at Sirius.

"Moony didn't leave Hogwarts the- traditional way." Sirius now had both the other boys' attention each enrapt in his every word. "He used the secret passage under the Whomping Willow. An he wasn't alone- Madame Pomfrey went with him too." James snorted.

"That's ridiculous, no one can get into that secret passage!"

"Then how did Moony know about the passage when we were making the map?" This question silencesd both James and Sirius. Slowly, Sirius says,

"Yes, James, how did he know about the passage?"

To be continued at a later date.
