She ran.
She ran so hard and fast, the lift summoner held tightly in her hand.
She knew it was useless.
Knew that her boss would simply activate her collar and shut her down.
She was just a Fabricant after all, who would miss her?
She frantically pressed the lift summoner button.
She turned around and looked her owner in the eyes, silently begging him not to do it.
He pressed the button.
The tiny micro explosive charge detonated, severing her carotid artery.
She fell limply to the ground.
But in her final moments a man came and knelt down beside her.
She couldn't move, but he positioned himself so she could see his eyes.
In them were a sadness and regret so great that if she could have smiled she would have.
Someone would miss her after all.
...
The security forces quickly showed up and pushed the man away, cordoning off the area.
The man turned and looked at the owner, and what the owner saw in those eyes made him turn away and head towards his office in the back.
"This simply will not do." the man said to no one in particular.
He strode off purposefully towards the bar.
