The green grass of the quidditch pitch glistened with rain drops. Vaguely, in the distance, he could see people running, hear them screaming- although, whether for him or the other countless bodies strewn about, he couldn't tell. He hoped Ron and Hermione were okay, and Sirius and Remus as well. He became aware of someone shaking him, sobbing. He wanted to answer, to tell the person it was alright, but he found he couldn't open his mouth, so he just ignored her. He was floating..bits and pieces of the Battle, came back to him, the final battle- death eaters swarming Hogwarts, Voldemort's cold, cruel laughter- and then the same laughter, forever silenced. He had finally done what the wizarding world had expected him to his entire life. Through a haze, it seemed, he saw green light, a body jumping in front of him.but no, he didn't want to think of that now. He whispered a last prayer for his friends, not loud enough for anyone to hear, all the while, the calming song of a phoenix becoming louder and louder. No longer could he hear the sounds of a battlefield, of mourning friends and foes alike- no longer could he see the gray sky and the bright red that seemed to cover everything. The song grew louder and more comforting each second, his home of Hogwarts turned back into the happy place he once knew it as, although it was getting farther and farther away. It was not out of sight, but what met his eyes now filled his heart with joy. A house with vines and flowers winding their way up the sides, and people sitting outside. Six heads turned, and smiles lit up their faces- A freckled, red haired boy, a bushy haired girl, a man with long black hair and mischief in his eyes, a sandy haired, hazel eyed professor- and a tall man with baby blue eyes not quite hidden behind a pair of glasses and the trademark messy hair, and a woman with flowing red hair and skin as perfect as her name-sake. The last two got up, and with nothing except pride and love showing on their faces, Lily and James Potter welcomed the son who had for so long been torn away from them. "We've missed you, son". * * * * * Albus Dumbledore sighed, as he gazed at the graves of the last students he would ever lose to Voldemort.
