Just a drabble in the "Time Out" universe.

I do not own CSI Miami blah blah blah.

Ten years before "Time Out"

Rick sat downstairs in his dark house. He could hear Libby brushing her teeth upstairs and after a few minutes she padded over to her room and the house was silent.

Their large Akita, Biscuit yawned and laid at Rick's feet. Rick rubbed the dog's head and patiently waited for two more hours. Biscuit lifted his sleepy head from the floor and growled at the back door. He leapt to his feet and his deep bark boomed throughout the house.

"Down," Rick scolded the dog as he put his paws up on the glass door. He watched a dark figure climb over the fence and land in the grass. The teenager dashed around the pool and stopped in front of the glass.

"Let me in," Aeon begged and brushed his dark hair out of his face. Rick unlocked the door and slid it open. Aeon gratefully walked in and collapsed onto the couch, breathing heavily. Biscuit wagged his curled tail and sniffed him before running out into the yard.

"Where the hell have you been?" Rick demanded and slid the door shut again.

"I've been running from that red headed cop for hours," Aeon panted.

"Why? What did you do?" Rick asked.

"There was a shooting down by the water."

"Aeon!"

"I didn't shoot anyone and I didn't see anything. I just heard it." Aeon exclaimed.

"Then why are you running?" Rick asked and Aeon hesitated. "Just talk to him you won't get into trouble."

"I had pot on me," Aeon sighed.

"Give it to me, all of it." Rick said and held out his hand. Aeon sighed and dug around in his pockets. He handed Rick a small baggy. "I want your pipe too."

"Rick." Aeon whined.

"Now, you're lucky I don't send you back to your father's," Rick sighed. Aeon pulled his small glass pipe out of another pocket and grudgingly handed it over. Rick looked into the back yard. Biscuit was jumping on the side gate of the fence and was barking furiously. "Go to bed," Rick told Aeon and he took a shotgun out of the closet.

"What are you doing with that?" Aeon asked.

"It's just in case, get to bed," Rick said. He walked out the back door and called Biscuit off. Aeon hid at the bottom of the stairs and listened to what was happening outside. "Anyone there?" Rick yelled.

"Dade PD," came a gruff reply from the other side of the fence.

"Horatio?" Rick inquired.

"Yes, who are you?" Horatio asked. Rick shooed Biscuit away and opened the gate. "Oh, good evening Rick."

"Same to you Horatio. What's going on?"

"Did a teenager run through your yard?"

"No, my dog would have torn him up. He must have gone through the neighbor's yard." Rick said.

"Thanks Rick. I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight," Horatio sighed.

"Good night," Rick said and re locked the gate. He called Biscuit and locked the glass door. Aeon had already sprinted up the stairs and was in his room. Rick put the gun away and wearily climbed up the stairs. "Stay in here Aeon or I'll lock you in there," Rick told him through a locked door.

"Yes sir."
