Terrible thing after terrible thing
Lucy laid in her bed surrounded by moving boxes for her last night in her apartment. She breathed quietly and blinked slowly, trying to get to the right state of mind to sleep.
When she left her eyes closed for five seconds she saw flashes of Aquarius and reopened her eyes, only for them to well up with tears and her steadied breath to shake. She tried swiping them away with her fingers but couldn't do it fast enough.
Lucy clenched her fists and pressed them into her eyes, rolling onto her back and wheezing.
Her loss of Aquarius, the death of Natsu's father, Natsu's departure, the disbandment of the guild...
Terrible thing after terrible thing after terrible thing after terrible...
Sure she was trying to move on by leaving Magnolia and working as a writer, but everything still hurt. It would hurt even more because of how physical the separation from everything she loved would be.
She couldn't do anything except cry and that was the hardest part.
She eventually fell asleep.
The next morning, Lucy woke up with sticky cheeks and clumped eyelashes. She rinsed her face in the bathroom and got to work finishing packing.
Life is rough right now. Things have been piling up and it just feels awful.
If you're feeling like everything is out of your control, know that you're not alone. It's hard. It's really hard. It helps to love the ones close to you and to keep crying.
