WHY DIDI DO IT WHY DIDI DO IT

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters in my story. They are the sole property of Gail Carson Levine. I wrote this story to explain to my self and now to you why Pamela was so mean to Ell, who trusted her with such an important secret and part of her life.

I suppose you are wondering why. Why was I horrible that day? Why did I hurt my friend? Why did I take advantage of her? When she was under a curse.

It's simple my friend, quite horribly simple. I was very jealous.

Ella was a good and true friend, but her life was much simpler than mine. Especially with her mother. My mother loved me but she complained a lot. She didn't like being a maid. So she tended to not be very happy. Unlike Ella's mother who was always happy.

One day Mandy the family cook asked Ella to get some almonds. She got two, way less then what Mandy wanted. If I had done that I would have been in a ton of trouble. Of course our lives were different.

Latter I asked Ella why she didn't do what Mandy wanted. Then she told me about her curse. Obedient! She had to be obedient, had to obey every order. I wanted to be her friend but I was so weak, and so jealous. Under power like that I crumpled.

Unlike what she would have done. She would have done everything she could to help me. I did everything that I could do to hurt her.

Growing up Ella loved to race. I always lost but it was fun. When she asked me to that day I made her lose. I saw her disappointment. I couldn't stop though. When we played princes and ogre I made her be the ogre. Then I made her give me the best berries from the ones we picked.

After an hour she punched me. I didn't blame her. I deserved it. But it still hut, my nose I mean. They were only able to tell my mother r that I had been mean to Ella. Ella was punished to but from what I could tell hers' wasn't as bad as mine. I disserved a worse punishment. I felt horrible.

After that my mother got a job far from Frell. Ella and I made up but we haven't spoken since. I never did see her again. I was very happy for her when she broke her curse and got married. I hope that she really did forgive me. So, that is my story. You might not understand, but at lest someone heard it.
