A/N – Hey guys. I know I'm in the middle of another story but I felt like just trying a songfic. (The song is Concrete Angel by Martina McBride) It's short, sweet, and to the point. Don't expect a lot of description because you won't find it here. There is no distinct pairing so you can choose the outcome of this story. R & R. Enjoy!
She kept it a secret. Nobody knew what was happening behind those deep blue eyes and that gorgeous smile. With some make-up and bandages, she was able to keep the truth hidden.
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
If I asked what happened to her, she would reply "just fell" or "skateboarding accident." But I didn't know the thoughts running through her head and the emotions building up in her heart. It was like a tornado inside of her. Everything was spinning and she was trapped inside of it.
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
She was the strongest girl I ever met. She wouldn't cry or show fear. She would take whatever you gave her know matter how harmful it was. She was full of hopes and dreams and would do whatever it takes to accomplish them.
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
I guess she didn't realize what would eventually happen. That one day she would not be able to accomplish those dreams. One day her life would be taken from beneath her Converse all-stars and never be put back at its starting point. Unfortunately, no one came to her rescue and we now see the consequences.
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
I realize that no matter how upset I am, she is in a better place. She doesn't have to worry or suffer any more. I miss her so dearly but I know one day I will join her. One day we'll both be in heaven.
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
For now, I must stand here, motionless and silent, dressed in all black, attending the funeral for the girl I love, looking at the tombstone that brings tears to my eyes at just the thought of not seeing her again. No matter how much I want to, I can't hold her in my arms. No matter how much I want to, I can't stare into her deep eyes that go for miles. No matter how much I want to I can't tell her I love her more then anything in the world. No matter how many people come to the funeral and no matter how many people feel like they lost an importance in their life, I know that no one feels the pain like I do.
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
But don't you worry, Lilly will be make it up there. She will find a way to be happy. She always does. She's watching over me and all of us this very moment and smiling knowing she doesn't have to be scared anymore. Now she's an angel, a concrete angel.
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
