Just completely disregard everything you know about Bones. And it'll work. I just thought of this when they looked at each other in the 100th episode after telling Sweets that they kissed.
Seely Booth and his partner Temperance Brennan could be seen leaving the FBI building after a long afternoon with their psychologist.
"We should have told him the truth you know"
"About what?"
"Don't do that Bones, you know exactly what I'm talking about"
"I know I just don't want to get into this argument. Again"
"Bones we've been working together for five years plus the case before that, I think the FBI would trust that our relationship doesn't get in the way of our work. Especially since it started after I fired you. We weren't even working together at the time"
"Maybe we should tell him. Do you think it would be kinder to tell him before or after his book is published?"
"Probably before. The poor kid is going to have to write the whole thing again"
"Yeah, well if we get split up I'm blaming you."
"We wont get split. Tell you what if we get don't get split up then you have to marry me"
"The marriage thing again."
"Yep"
"Alright fine. But only because I'm sure we'll get split up"
"You know most women are a lot more graceful about getting proposed to, in fact most women are actually happy about it"
"Do I look like most women to you?"
"Nope. That's why I love you so much" She rolled her eyes at him but couldn't help the smile that found its way on to her face
"Come on lets go tell Sweets. He might cry, I know I would if I had to re-write an entire book"
"Well if he cries you can comfort him"
"Why me?"
"Because you're a girl"
"You're the heart person"
"You're the one who knows how he feels"
"You're the one who wants to tell him"
"Tell who what?" the pair looked around with the same guilty look, "well Sweets you see-"
"What Booth is stalling to tell you is that we lied"
"About what?"
"About when we kissed"
"You did have sex didn't you?"
"Yeah we did"
"Just the one time?" the two looked at each other again and back to Sweets. "More than once?"
"The thing is-"
"Now who's stalling? What Bones is trying to say is that," Booth grabbed Temperance's hand "We've been together since our first case"
"WHAT!?!"
"Just thought you should know" Booth patted his back. Sweets just stared blankly into space "Hello Sweets"
"I think he's in shock Booth, I told you we shouldn't have told him."
"Maybe we should leave him, you know let him sort it out then he can call us tomorrow and yell at us or cry or whatever"
"Maybe you're right" Sweets watched as the couple walked off into the distance, then pulled his manuscript out of his brief case, threw it in the bin and continued on to his car.
