Disclaimer: I don't own Ninjago…or Higurashi…
IMPORTANT NOTE: This fic is based on the Higurashi series. No previous knowledge of the series is needed to actually understand what the heck is going on. BUT, this may contain spoilers to it, so if u plan on watching/reading Higurashi, I recommend leaving. For those who stayed, enjoy!
If I had wanted things to end this way, it wouldn't have hurt so bad. That's why, with each strike, a fragment of my soul disappears, leaving behind nothing but emptiness and pain. A sudden feeling erupted within me, and it was gone quicker than I thought. Even if it was there for a second, I still felt it. It was surprisingly powerful, enough to numb the pain and fill this empty void.
"I'm sorry…" That one phrase rang through Kai's head. It kept on repeating like a broken record. It's much louder this time…
Kai gripped his sword, wiping his blood-stained head with his sleeve. Panting, he raised it once more and drove it downwards, the blade slicing through Jay's arm. He raised his blade again, turning to Cole's unmoving body, and forced the blade though his chest
They're dead. No matter how many times Kai told himself that, paranoia arose from within, telling him otherwise.
Kai killed them…they're dead.
The ninja swung his blade at the two bodies, tears welling up in his eyes.
I trusted you. He cut Cole's arm. I relied on you. He pierced Jay's abdomen. I think I still do…
"I'm sorry…" Again, a voice spoke.
Why are you apologizing…? Kai heard footsteps from behind him. He quickly turned around, and was met with nothing. He tossed his weapon near Cole and Jay's dead bodies.
Kai took quick, shallow breaths, suddenly feeling a terrible itch from under his skin. He began scratching his arms, and, eventually, his neck. Something crawled underneath.
Someone's coming…they're coming after me…! Kai stopped, his eyes widening as he heard footsteps again. Without hesitation, he ran out of the monastery, not looking back once.
He ran without a clear destination. The evening breeze sent a chill up his spine. He was alone, with nothing but the sounds of nature accompanying him.
Kai finally came to a stop once he knew he was being followed. He felt someone's presence behind him, but didn't dare to look once. The footsteps behind him grew louder and louder.
"I'm sorry…" Again, that voice.
Why are you following me? Kai felt someone standing right behind him. He felt their eerily warm breath on his skin.
Cole…Jay…After everything you did, I shouldn't cry for you. Still, I don't want any of this to be real. I'm sorry...
Kai began scratching his neck again, realizing that he might not survive. After all, he was lured into the unopened forest where the cicadas cried.
Hmmm, tell me what you think really happened, like why Kai killed the two, and who that apologizing person was, and why they apologized. See ya next chapter!
