Emily knew she had messed everything up. She had ended up falling in love with her boss, gotten into a relationship with him, then running away and moving away. Not being able to stay away she eventually came back. She knew that she wasn't going to be welcomed back with open arms when it came to Hotch, but she wasn't expecting how cold he was towards her. After a week of being back and Hotch ignoring her she finally cornered him. Emily had to tell him that she was sorry, and that she cared about him, and she never wanted to hurt him, even though she left. What she wasn't expecting was to have her feelings bubble over the surface and start crying right as she started to talk.

"I need to talk to you," she said softly.

"We don't need to do anything Prentiss. You left, and there's nothing you can do to change that," he told her with anger lacing his tone.

"Don't you think I know that Hotch? Do you really believe that if I could go back in time I wouldn't? I wish I could. I would do everything differently. I never would have left. If I never left then we'd still be together and I wouldn't be living with the guilt that I hurt you and that I hurt Jack because that was never my intention. Regardless of what you think of me I love that little boy so much. I wouldn't be having days where all I think of is you. What we had together and my feelings for you are so strong that all I think about is you. It's so overwhelming and it gets to the point where I can't breathe."

Emily tried to control her feelings and she tried to get her breath leveled out, but with the way Hotch looked at her she knew controlling anything was out of the question. "If I could turn back time you wouldn't be looking at me with hate in your eyes and you don't have to hate me Hotch. I hate myself enough for the both of us. I'm sorry Hotch. I. Am. Sorry. I don't know what else to say. I don't know how to make this right because if I did I'd do it."

Hotch took a step closer to Emily and grabbed her face in between his hands and placed a fierce kiss upon her lips. Pulling apart Emily looked up at him.

"What was that for?" she asked quietly.

"I had to see if I still felt something for you."

"And?" she wondered timidly afraid of the answer.

"It's gone," he replied sadly. "All we had. All I felt it's gone. There's no going back. I'm sorry but you can't fix this," he said as he hastily walked out of the door leaving Emily heartbroken and sobbing uncontrollably.
