Chapter 1

It was Monday morning on the island of sodor and Thomas was puffing down his branch line towards elsbridge station when he saw Percy and Toby. "Help Thomas please help" shouted Percy. "What's wrong" said Thomas. "Further up the line there were some men messing around with the points and Toby didn't see them and when he went over the points it exploded and Toby was on fire" replied Percy.

Thomas puffed to the front of Toby and saw that his face had been burnt off in the explosion. Toby was dead. The next day the fat controller came to tidmouth sheds and spoke to the engines, "because of the events of yesterday, Thomas's branch line will be closed for repairs". "But sir" said Thomas wearily. "No buts Thomas you will help Edward bank trains on Gordon's hill.
