20/06/16 EDITED. Hey guys, reading this oneshot back was really interesting for me because I have completely changed my views on the dynamic between Edward and Bella. I was 14/15 when I wrote this so I am asking for some lenience, I don't think I was old enough to understand how a good relationship works and was definitely wrong with some of the stuff Edward said to Bella, I'll put this down to a stepping stone to improving as a writer c: I am going to be changing this oneshot quite a lot compared to the others which were more about spelling and general writing practical stuff, I hope you guys enjoy it a lot more this way xd Thank you for reading!

"Edward, I said no!" I heard Bella cry from upstairs and I heard Edward groan in defeat as he left the room, running down the stairs and slamming the door. I wondered idly what they were arguing about now, it was all they seemed to be doing lately, going back and forth until Bella started crying and went home, Edward leaving shortly after.

"You are too controlling, let me breath!"

"You never take your safety seriously"

"I want to buy it for you"

"I don't need charity"

"You are so beautiful"

"Please don't lie to me"

If Bella was go into be a Cullen one day, it's time I had a word with my little sister, I was fed up of listening to them.

"Alright, sit down" I told her, crossing my arms and pointing at the armchair across from me. She sat down hesitantly and her brown eyes met mine as she looked at my expectantly. "Bella, we don't get on, ok? We both know that but my brother loves you and as much as it bothers me, I can see now that it's inevitable that you will become part of this family one day. This means a number of things. The first is that we have to learn to tolerate each other because we are family and I stick up for my family, don't ever forget that." Bella looked over at me warmly and whispered "thank you Rosalie, I know you don't like me very much but I hope we can try and work on our relationship for Edward's sake at least." I nodded at that, the one thing I couldn't fault her for, was how deeply she loved my brother despite his many faults. She had proved herself many times, especially in Volterra, that she would put his needs before her own and love him as desperately as he loved her. But she did need to learn how to put her foot down, Edward had been single for a long time and was used to not having to answer and think about others in his decisions except his family. But being in a family was very different to being in a partnership and she was scared that Edward would make things worse by his behaviour rather than better.

"Bella" I sighed "your confidence level is near zero, which I don't really understand because you are actually really pretty" she blushed, redness spreading across her cheeks and down her neck at the compliment, I smiled slightly. "I can't really understand, the only thing I was ever complimented on in my human and even mostly in this life was my physical appearance but I understand we are very different. Just please, try and have some confidence in yourself, you're a Cullen, you can be safe in the knowledge that you will always have Edward's love and our family to back you up. You are one of the bravest people I have ever met, you stood up in front of vampiric royalty to save Edward's life, for God sake. I think that is pretty fucking brilliant" I winked, she nodded holding her head a little higher, a light pink still tainting her pale cheeks. I looked at her in pride.

"Bella, one thing that has been bothering me about your guys' relationship that I want to talk about, then I will butt out for good I promise, I just want to offer my insight. You and I both know that Edward would do anything for you and sometimes it's nice to let him show it" I saw the confusion set into her face so I clarified "It's part of Edward's personality to give presents to those he loves, he has given Esme, Alice and I many trinkets over the years. It isn't about making you feel like a charity case" she grimaced as I quoted her "or like he is buying you, it isn't even about impressing you, he knows you are not that type of girl. He just wants you to be happy, if he sees something you would like, he wants to give it to you, your happiness is everything to him. It hurts him that you won't let him give you everything you want and I know you would do the same for him. He waited decades for you Bella, do you think he never dreamed of you and thought about how much he could spoil you?" She looked down guiltily "All I'm saying is, don't deny a part of him. He loves you just the way you are, so you need to love him the way he is" she nodded in understanding.

I grinned "But that doesn't mean let him get away with everything, you need to talk to each other more. I have heard your arguments and if you feel like Edward is not treating you like a partner, confront him. I know it's in your nature to back down, but you don't have to be afraid of losing him, a good relationship takes work and sometimes you need to fight to make it better. Even if that means fighting with your partner because that is what you guys' are. Partners." She nodded along thoughtfully and I could tell I had given her a lot to think about. We sat there for a few minutes awkwardly before I heard Edward's footsteps getting louder as he ran back to the house. I hoped she would listen my advice and hopefully things would get better soon, I was getting used to seeing my brother's stupid face with a smile on it.
