D. Gray-Man (c) Katsura Hoshino

A/N: I set it to where they're little kids that are around the age of six or eight.

With all the lights out, everything was as it should be. Devitto snoring and tossing around restlessly, Jasdero sleeping like a baby, and the crickets outside singing. It was almost like a movie when a loud shriek pierced the silence like a newly sharpened blade. Being as sound proof as he was, Devitto did not wake up. Jasdero, on the other hand, shot straight up and was once again wide awake.

Trembling terribly, Jasdero cautiously traveled across the bedroom as quietly as he could until he came upon his brother's bed. Shaking Devitto gently, Jasdero whispered his name, afraid that someone might hear him. When he got no response, fear and worry fill Jasdero as he glanced over his shoulder and to his bed where he could've sworn he saw something move. "Devi!" Jasdero shouted and then covered his mouth, wishing that he didn't raise his voice that high.

Groaning and mumbling to himself, Devitto opened his eyes and ran a hand through his black mane. "What is it?" He asked in a long yawn.

"I… I had a bad dream…" Jasdero admitted and blushed in embarrassment.

"What about?" Devitto questioned, sitting up and resting his elbow on his knee.

"T-That a-a monster a-ate you…" Jasdero explained and moved his gaze to the midnight blue comforter that he wanted to crawl under for protection. When it came to feeling safe, the blonde always had that sense of feeling when he was with his twin.

A smile formed on Devitto's flawless face as a shallow laugh escaped his lips. "That's all? Come on Jas, you can't be serious!" Devitto said.

Tears forming in Jasdero's bright blue eyes, his vision became blurry. "B-But I am! T-They hurt you!" Jasdero yelled, causing his dormant tears to come out for all to see. Flinching, Devitto froze up as he watched his little brother. "I don't want to lose you!" The blonde boy added, trying to stop himself from crying but failing miserably. Why couldn't Devitto just understand his pain?

Snapping out of his trance, Devitto took a deep breathe to calm himself before tugging at Jasdero's sleeve. "Come 'ere." Devitto demanded and pulled his little brother into a heart-warming embrace. Stroking Jasdero's smooth hair, Devitto whispered comforting words to him. "Ssh… It's okay, you won't lose me…" He then lifted his covers and scooted over so there was room for Jasdero to fit in as well. Taking the bait, Jasdero lied down and snuggled up closed to Devitto.

"Don't ever leave…" Jasdero mumbled, falling closer to slumber.

"I won't…" Devitto told his brother and held him close as if it were their last day.

A few years later…

"Psst! Brother!" Jasdero whispered loudly, no longer caring who heard him.

Moaning and immediately sitting up, Devitto rubbed his eyes and soon met the sight of the male with immensely long blonde hair. "Eh? Again?" He asked and patted his mouth as he yawned. Nodding in response, Jasdero inched closer to the raven. "Alright. Get in," Devitto sighed and rolled over to be situated up against the wall. Smiling slightly in gratitude, Jasdero was glad to have someone who would never abandon him. Someone who will always be there.
