A/N: I was bored...

Dean tossed his jacket onto the cheap motel bed next to Sam and flopped down next to him. The latter gave him a wary look.

"Dean, are you okay?" Sam asked as he began to undo the laces on his boots.

Dean shrugged. "I will be." He said softly, reflecting on the day's events.

It was supposed to be a quick job but of course things never go as planned and what should have been an easy job quickly turned into gut-wrenching, terrifying and spine-chilling case that had left both the Winchesters broken-hearted.

A flutter in the corner of the room caused the boys to lift their heads and gaze up at Castiel. His expression was soft and compassionate and his stance was laid back despite the cheap surroundings of the motel room.

"I just heard about your latest case...I'm...sorry...There was nothing else you could do." Castiel said kindly.

Sam nodded his head appreciatively but Dean's hands curled into fists. "How can you say you're sorry?" He growled. "You weren't even there."

Castiel took a step forward. "I was busy doing a favor for a friend."

Dean shook his head and stood up, towering over Castiel. "Too busy to help us save a kid? A child who is now dead?"

Castiel gulped and Sam pulled at Dean's arm. "It's not his fault Dean." Sam started but Dean wouldn't listen.

"No it's not his fault, but he certainly didn't help either." Dean growled.

Castiel dipped his head and then suddenly lifted it so that his bright azure eyes met Dean's with a fiery resistance.

"If I could have helped, I would have. I was-"

"I know." Dean interrupted as he held up a hand. "Busy." He snarled.

Castiel opened his mouth to speak but a knock on the door distracted him. "You should get that." Castiel said matter-of-factly.

Dean huffed again but stood up nevertheless to open the door. He gasped and the door swung open to reveal Bobby on the mat outside, standing on his own two feet.

"Hey boys." He said as he wrapped Dean in a hug.

Sam jumped up from the bed and crossed the room to join the hug; all three too happy to get a word in edgewise.

Dean turned to talk to Castiel but the angel was no where in sight. As Dean turned to face Bobby again he realized what the angel had been busy with. And with that, Dean smiled and thanked God for the angel.
