Lily Evan's was not happy; her sister Petunia had put her through another day of torture at the bridal store. Linda Evans had forced her daughter Petunia to include her sister in the wedding, much to Lily's protests. Petunia was getting married to Vernon Dursley who in Lily's opinion looked like a walrus. He was an oaf of a man. He was as dull as possible. He could drone on for hours about drills, his favorite topic. He was as boring and ordinary as you could get. He was perfect for Petunia. Petunia thrived on being normal; he like Petunia hated freakishness. That was probably one of the reasons Petunia and her fiancé hated Lily. Lily was anything but normal; She was a witch and attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her sister's shrill voice jolted her from her

"Ugghh this dress looks horrible with your hair. You ruin everything! I can't believe I had to make you a bridesmaid." Petunia complained.

"I don't want to be here any more than you do." Lily retorted.

"Now girls hush." Linda warned.

Lily sighed, she only had to deal with one more week of this before she boarded the Hogwarts train to return for her seventh year. This year Lily had been named Head Girl. All of her friends had told her that she would but she was surprised and ecstatic nonetheless. She wondered who head boy would be. She had a few guesses; Michael Bourke the old Ravenclaw prefect, Jonathan Levi another Ravenclaw, or maybe even her fellow 6th year Gryffindor prefect the Marauder, Remus Lupin. She could work with almost anyone except for Severus or Potter. Once she would have jumped at the chance of working with her now ex-friend but ever since the day he called her horrid word she saw many things in him she had once overlooked. Potter was another story; he was the leader of the Marauders, her sworn enemy. He was an arrogant toe rag who enjoyed playing merciless pranks on innocent first years. Last year he had begun to grow up and even his head had began to deflate but Lily could never consider him to be her friend after his history. Especially since he continued to ask her out. It had started at the beginning of fourth year and although it had slowed in sixth year it still continued. She was the only girl to ever turn him down and Lily knew the only reason he was so persistent was because she was a challenge.

"Lily we need to go" Linda yelled up the stairs.

"Coming Mum"

"I have some of that floo powder stuff"

After her second year Lily had gotten her house connected to the floo network. It was far easier to get to Diagon Alley than the three-hour drive. Now that she was 17 she could easily clean the soot off of her and her parents. Linda and David never missed a chance to go to Diagon Alley. They were fascinated by anything Magical. In facet they insisted to go to Diagon Alley earlier than necessary so that they would have time to read them. It made them feel more connected to their daughter since they only saw her three months a year. They frequently wrote her but often felt they hadn't truly known her since she left for school when she was eleven. It often felt like she was hiding something or trying to protect them. They had noticed it before but it was more obvious on her seventeenth birthday when the first magic she had done was to put extensive protection spells on the house. David and Linda had probably been more excited than Lily for her seventeenth birthday. On her birthday Lily had given her mum a trick wand that was charmed to do a few simple cleaning Charms so she could do it while she was away at school.
