"James!"
Ginny Potter rolled over, pulling the warm blankets off of her husband.
"Your turn."She muttered sleepily. Harry Potter groaned and sat up, rubbing his eyes and grabbing his glasses and wand off of the nightstand next to the bed. Muttering he grabbed his scarlet and gold robe and put it on before pushing open the heavy oak door and walking from his bedroom. He walked down the hallway, already hearing the shrill screams of a young girl from downstairs. Picking up his pace, he quickly walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"What," Harry paused, looking at the scene before him, "on earth, are you three doing?" He said slowly, green eyes wavering from each child, all frozen in action. The kitchen and children where white, covered in flour. Eggs lay cracked on the floor, yolks dripping off of various kitchen appliances, and two pieces of burned toast sat in the toaster. Lily was first to speak, bottom lip quivering, "Al and I where trying to make you and Mummy breakfast, b-but James ruined it!"
She cried, raising her arm to point at James, who had a guilty smile plastered on his flour-covered face. Harry raised an eyebrow, and James sighed. "I came down when I smelt something burning – Lily's horrible toasting skills, honestly, how hard is it to slap two pieces of bread in the toaster and watch it, even a monkey could-" James paused, hearing Harry clear his throat. He smiled again before continuing. "Anyway, I came down, being the protective and wonderful big brother I am, to see my twodearlittle siblings struggling," James said, reaching out his hand and ruffling Albus' black hair, "so I just had to help them, of course." Harry sighed running his hand through his own mop of black hair, "Of course."He echoed as James nodded vigorously.
"Actually, Lily and I where doing rather fine on our own. We had just left the toast in a bit too long, is all. And then James came running down like a mad hippogriff or something and started throwing eggs at us."Albus piped up, turning around to show a splattered egg-yolk down his back. Lily nodded, still puckering and turning slightly to show a bit of yolk in her red hair. Harry opened his mouth to speak when suddenly; footsteps came from the bottom of the stairs.
"WHAT DID YOU THREE DO TO MY KITCHEN?" Harry turned to see a fuming Ginny, who was marching over to her three children."James Sirius Potter, go up to your room and do not dare come down until I say so." She growled, glaring at her oldest son."How do you know I was me!?" James complained as he flinched under her glare. "Lucky guess. Now go or I'll hex your toes off!"Ginny barked, and the boy quickly sprinted past her to go back up to his room. Ginny sighed and turned to look down at Albus and Lily."What happened?" She asked her voice slightly calmer as she ignored Harry. Albus retold his tale, and Ginny let out a frustrated groan as she turned to Harry. "Clean this up, will you? I need to go deal withyourson."
With that, Ginny stormed up the stairs after her oldest soon, and Harry turned back to the two younger children. He sighed and shook his head, "You two got off lucky. And though I appreciate the thought of making your mother and I breakfast, I wouldn't try it again until James' is out of the house. Now, stand still."And with a simple flick of his wand, the kitchen and children where cleaned of egg and flour.
"Now, let's go see what James' newest punishment is, shall we?" Harry asked, extending his arms to his two younger children. Lily and Albus both their linked arms with his as they walked up the stairs to eavesdrop.
