Grade 4, 1994, April 21. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Quidditch field.
Malfoy watched as Harry held the golden snitch in his fist, pumping it in the air and the stadium poured out around him. A tidal wave of cheers echoed off the large stadium. Malfoy was stunned, he felt petrified. Harry grinned from ear to ear as three quarters of the school lifted the team onto it's shoulders. They had lost, the cup was going to Gryffindor.
Something caught his eye, a girl he had never seen before at the edge of the crowd cheering with the rest of them. She had short, thick, golden hair and a tall yet plump figure. She was smiling and singing as her hair bounced around her head. Suddenly, she caught sight of him staring and turned her head to look at him, her smile fading. He tried to look away, but she seemed to glow, and he couldn't. Slowly, she turned around and walked toward him. Oh no, she's going to tell me off for staring at her! He thought. She was a few feet away now and stopped when she was standing in front of him.
But then she did something unexpected, she smiled. A cute lopsided grin that was welcoming and comforting.
"Hi there." She said. "I'm Daisy." She titled her head at him, "You're Draco, right?" It took him a moment to register that she had said anything, with all that had just happened, it was hard to take in anything else.
"Oh, yes. I'm Draco." He said stupidly. What did she want? To gloat in his face about HER team winning the stupid cup? He just wanted to take a cold shower and be alone with his misery. At the same time, he didn't want her to leave. Maybe they could shower together? Get ahold of yourself, Malfoy! He thought. You've just met her! Don't get ahead this soon.
Her grin somewhat faded as she looked him up and down. "Look, I'm sorry about this." She gestured to him and then Harry and the cup. "It's hard losing, but," she brightened up suddenly. "You've always got a chance next year!"
"Yeah, thanks for those words of encouragement." He said and gave her a little smile, still a bit star struck. This made her smile even wider. As she turned to leave he yelled out, a little too loudly,
"Wait!" She turned back, surprised to see he was talking after their somewhat one sided conversation.
"Yes?"
"I - uh - just wanted to ask you-" He cut off, rubbing his hand through his hair. What did he want to ask her? "Would you like to take a walk with me?" He asked. What a stupid question? What was he thinking for goodness sakes? She was a Gryffindor and he was a Slytherin! Oh well, too late now.
She seemed pretty taken aback by this, as any rightful person should be. Is he asking me to walk with him? Why though? It doesn't seem like he's really into me. But... I guess I'm always up for new experiences, especially with a cute Slytherin. She smiled inwardly at this thought and made up her mind. Holding her hands in front of her and casting her eyes downward, she said shyly, "That sounds great. Where and when?"
He hadn't thought about this either. Kind of making it up on the spot. He made a quick mental check of all his tests and quidditch practices and decided upon May 2nd. That was a good time, nothing was going on. He just hoped it would work for her too. "I was thinking, May second? I mean, if it works for you of course. And down by the lake? Or just a stroll through the castle? It doesn't matter to me." Anywhere would be perfectly okay if he had her by his side. But, oh lord, when had he ever used the word 'stroll'? What a nerdy thing to do! She did look like the type to enjoy reading though, maybe she would find his very extensive vocabulary impressive.
"Sure, a stroll through the castle sounds great. May second is fine by me," She nodded and added, "I'll bring some snacks from the kitchen, the house elves seem quite fond of me."
"That means, if we are meeting at noon." Raising her eyebrows in a questioning fashion.
"Yeah, ok. I'm free all day, we can do whatever." Stupid, stupid, stupid! Dumb statements all the way! She didn't seem to have any problems with it, so why did he?
"Alright then, can't wait to see you there, Mister Draco Malfoy." She chirped and touched his green quidditch robes with her delicate, pale hand. Winking at her new handsome friend, she hopped out of there and back into the celebrating quidditch crowd that was now gravitating toward the castle, a slight skip in her step.
Butterflies in his stomach, Draco wondered if he should just drown himself right there. But he couldn't move his feet. This girl was going to be the end of him, but this was just the beginning.
A/N sorry there's nothing "saucy" in here, there will be in later chapters so just hold on! Daisy is not an actual character in the books, she is one of my Hogwarts ocs, I think I have three. I hope you enjoyed my this first chapter in my short story, there will be plenty more to come! I've got a lot, and I mean a lot! Of stuff I'm working on atm. I guess you could say I'm over motivated. But yeah, hope you enjoyed, please review, and I can't wait to write more! See ya later! :)
