File 1: The Detective, The Champions, The Crime.
The Dazed Hunter Bar - Piltover Slums - 11 PM
It was late night, the rain outside, the mumbling of conversations in the bar, the dim lights from the inside and the creeping red neon lights from outside gave this place a foreboding ambiance. Adding to this even further was the hidden cutthroats sitting in private booths , the women working the red light district, and the occasional echo of distant gun fire, this place was one no good willed person wanted to be caught in, yet here he was.
He was sitting on an old squeaky and worn out stool, his brown trench coat mere inches from the floor, his black tie loosened and dangling lazily, the white button up semi open, revealing a tight black muscle shirt. His expression wasn't even remotely better, bags under his eyes, cigarette held in place on the edge of his mouth as he waited for the bar tender. He put out the cigarette by pressing the lit side down on a ashtray overflowing with ashes and cigarette buds, then ordered in a mildly bored, yet still respectful tone, while slipping the bartender a fifty "Whiskey, Old Fashioned, thank you."
The bartender took the bill and proceeded to make his drink, all while the man ruffled his already messy raven hair, however this was a facade. He looked completely normal, nothing about him suggested anything out of the ordinary. That was until the bartender brought his drink, then the reason for his wait arrived and sat on the stool next to his. She wore a black hoodie coat and black boots, her raven hair reached her shoulders and her purple eyes contrasted with her dark hair and pale skin as she looked over at the older man.
"Glad to see you still at it after all this time, Abraham." Said the Daughter of the Void, a small smirk slowly creeping onto her smooth features. Abraham took a quick sip then replied in a dry tone "The feeling is mutual, Kai'sa." Their voices were low enough to not be heard by the other patrons but enough for them to hear each other. Abraham put his glass down then added "Got the file you wanted me to read... Why did you call me? There are people more experienced and qualified for this..." Kai didn't reply, instead she took his glass of whiskey and took a long sip of it.
After Kai'sa took her sip, which felt too long for Abraham, did she reply in a serious tone "Can we discuss this somewhere more... Private..?" She quickly shot glances over to the front door, signaling the League guards arriving to Abraham. He caught the message instantly and nodded, got up, and chugged the rest of his whiskey down in one go then simply told her in a low tone "Meet me upstairs in my office... Use the back door to get out quickly." Kai'sa nodded and watched him go to the back, disappearing from everyone's sight.
After afew minutes Kai'sa walked to the back, the guards followed her until they reached the back door, wide open. They rushed out after her, unaware that she never left, instead she waited in the shadows and got back in, heading upstairs to the living area. She arrived to the 3rd floor where she was greeted by a fairly clean and organized hall way with book shelves full of novels, educational texts on various sciences ranging from basic physics and mechanical guides to medical and arcane texts, and even some personal diaries from past wars. Accompanying these were old paintings of various styles and eras.
She eventually reached a dark wooden door with a small plate reading "Abraham Colt- Private Detective" and knocked on it. Inside he responded from his desk with "It's open." while looking over the file one more time. She entered slowly, in a cool and smooth stride that reinforced her determination. As soon as the door closed did Abraham ask "Okay, i did hear rumors and i have noticed the decrease in public activity with most of these champions. But are we 100% sure they have been kidnapped?" Kai'sa nodded, replying with "Yes, we are sure... Caitlyn already had most of their safe houses and private homes searched but all empty, some even ransacked."
Abraham sighed, took his seat and asked again "Why me? Caitlyn is already a cop and is apart of the League, why would they want me to do an investigation?" Kai'sa smiled, answering him in a warm tone "They don't. As a champion i am allowed to hire a personal eye or bodyguard to assist me with any personal affairs. And who better than the man who brought me back from the Void." Abraham looked at her and noticed she was smiling. It wasn't forced or mischievous, it was a genuine heart warming smile.
He sighed, ran his hand through his short hair and responded "Caitlyn won't like a detective snooping around... And i will need the reports of the houses or permission to search them. Get me those and I'll see what i can do... Kai.." Kai'sa instantly felt happier, unable to contain herself she threw herself onto him while saying "Thank you" repeatedly. He rolled his eyes playfully as she noticed what she was doing and quickly got off the lug of a man. He stood up, towering over the 5"8' woman with his 6"10' and asked "Anything else? Any information is useful, even if it's a small detail."
Kai'sa gave it some thought, remembering the meeting the champions had before she left, and came out with "Tomorrow there will be interrogations held for every champion in the League, there are rumors that it was an inside job... And also there is already a list of possible suspects, but Caitlyn has it..." Abraham sighed, Caitlyn, the officer who had always found time to make it clear that she was the law. Abraham sighed then asked "Think i can get in on that interrogation?" Kai'sa chuckled and replied jokingly "Unless you want to be in the one getting interrogated? No."
Piltover Police HQ - Caitlyn's Office - 1 AM
"What do you mean you lost her? She's a potential suspect! Your job was simple, walk up to her and bring her to the League!" Caitlyn slammed the phone down as hard as she could, her temper getting the better of her slightly. She pulled out Kai's file and looked for anything to track her down, sadly, there were no places she visited frequently beside the League and the Void. Caitlyn groaned, she had already had to put up a facade to the public concerning the missing Champions.
Caitlyn was tiered, something she rarely acknowledged during work, but did for this specific day. She glanced at file again, then put it back in it's respective place along side the other files. She rubbed her temples slowly as she told herself "Alright... Calm down.. They lost her at a bar.. Maybe those idiots just got too drunk and followed nothin-" she stopped when she heard a loud knock on the door. Caitlyn simply spoke up in a stern voice "It's open." then watched as her partner, Vi, entered holding a clipboard with a list of most if not all of the champions, 63% of them were checked out.
"C'mon Cait, we gotta rest for tomorrow, let's go." Said the pink haired enforcer as she put the clipboard in front of Caitlyn, earning herself a small scowl from the officer. Vi wasn't fazed however, she had grown used to the scowling and glares that Caitlyn would give her for most if not all their disagreements. Caitlyn simply asked "Is everyone here in their room? Are they all aware of what is coming? And have you found anything new?" Vi replied to all of these with "Yes, Some and no."
Caitlyn put the files away in her desk drawer, locked it then got up, confirming in a tired tone "Then we can go, it's been way to long a day and i can really use a shower..." Vi nodded and replied with "Same here Cait, same here." However they stopped when Caitlyn's radio went off with "We have various 10-45D down at 53rd street at the slums. Repeat, various 10-45D's" Caitlyn radioed in and asked "Caitlyn and Vi here, Suspect?" The radio woman replied with "Champion Jinx, she has been identified by civilians, she is armed and dangerous, go get her Girls." Both Caitlyn and Vi hurried to their patrol and drove down full speed with their sirens echoing through the streets.
Piltover Slums - 53rd Street - 1:30 AM
Abraham parked his car a block away from the crime scene, having received a call himself to come and assist. He looked around then asked Kai'sa as she got out of his car "See anything?" Kai'sa walked towards the bodies, examining them then looking around, bullet holes littering most if not all the walls in the neighborhood, along with cratera from explosives on the street. Abraham walked up to her and patted her shoulder, reminding her they were in a hurry.
Kai'sa nodded and replied to his question with "I smell alot of powder, blood, and a hint of something chard... But the water is making it hard to identify it... Whatever it is... This wasn't just a murder.." Abraham walked around the crime scene carefully, making sure not to move any evidence or disturb the scene more than it already was. He made his way to a trial of 7.62×51mm NATO bullet shells, some grenade rings and what seemed to be a destroyed laser pistol. He pulled out a small tube, slid it open to reveal a camera lens and took photos of the key points of interest and evidence.
As he examined the shells he noticed they all had doodles on them, some faded pink other light blue, then found a necklace with a single bullet on it, making him groan "Jinx... The loose Cannon.." he pocketed the necklace and looked around more. Kai'sa however snapped him out and asked "Hey is this normal?" Pointing at an explosion imprint that suddenly stopped in various parts. He walked up to it then looked over to the broken pistol, it was a straight line from the explosion to the broken weapon. "She was being hunted down... Look at the explosion and where it stops, then at the gun and shells... She was defending herself... Even if there was collateral damage.."
Kai'sa examined the explosion print once more, and noticing that there was a strange burn behind the sudden stop of the print. It looked like it went through the asphalt slightly, almost like acid. Kai'sa shook her head slowly, but before she could talk they both heard police sirens, and they were coming fast. Abraham hurried back to his car with Kai'sa and drove away as Caitlyn and Vi arrived turning the corner, but missing the detective, in their patrol.
As they drove away Abraham asked "Okay, do you know anyone who could-" But was cut off when she replied "Urgot, he likes cold industrial areas... And judging by the burns on the asphalt he is injured.." Abraham nodded then asked "This has to be connected to the Champions disappearing, right?" Kai'sa just nodded, her mind considering if she should contact the other league members. She simply asked "Do you think we can handle him? Just the two of us." Abraham shook his head and replied "No, but with Jinx, maybe... She is insane enough to turn any gun into a liability to her enemies.."
Piltover Abandoned Industrial Facilities - 2:10 AM
Abraham and Kai'sa both stood behind his car outside the long forgotten and abandoned industrial facilities, as he opened the car's trunk, pulling out a sawed off Pump-action shotgun and a .44 revolver. While Abraham loaded up Kai'sa took her coat and boots off, exposing her body to the rain, only wearing black chest wraps and black panties, sighing in relief abit as she spoke "I will go on ahead... If anything feels wrong, and i mean anything at all, not matter how small, contact Caitlyn..." Abraham looked up at her, watching as the void carapace slowly covered most of her body, from her shoulders down to her feet.
Before he could speak she walked into the dark interior of the facilities, one moment there, the next gone. He sighed and walked back to the driver's seat, pulled out his old Police scanner and called in "We have a 10-71 and 10-80 being reported at the old Abandoned Industrial Zone, repeat, 10-71 and 10-80." then turned the scanner off. He gave himself roughly ten minutes before the police linked this call to a possible jinx sighting and ten more minutes before they arrived, then hurried into the facility, instead entering through the loading area on the east side.
Before he entered however, he noticed a large van, could have been one of the old delivery vans used to deliver the finished goods to small time businesses, but the fact that it had strange burn marks, some bullet holes and the tracks were fresh was too good a coincidence. He pulled out his camera and took pictures quickly, both in and outside the vehicle. The back of the van had a very small puddle of blood, and it was still fresh.
He sighed and told himself "She's still alive... They don't want dead champions... Whoever "they" are..." then proceeded into the facility, passing the loading area and entering the factory floor. There were various machines and old conveyor belts, some still holding the parts of whatever it was they made. Judging by some old car chassis and doors littered throughout the factory floor he guessed this was a car factory, but it could have been also a recycling plant, he just didn't know and didn't have enough evidence for a solid statement.
He made his way deeper into the facility, finding himself in a pitch black hallway. He pulls out a small flashlight and looks around, finding a trail of burns on the floor and following it. He looked around and started hearing heavy shuffling through the halls ahead, he hurried into one of the many storage closets and turned his flashlight off, listening as the heavy mechanical legs echoed with every "cling " and "tshhh" through the halls. Once Urgot was past the door did Abraham slowly and silently open the door, pulling out his shotgun and aiming it before yelling "Hands up Urgot!"
Urgot stopped, not bothering to turn then asked "Who is it..? I have important businesses to attend t-" Abraham spoke up and answered "Detective Colt, and does that business involve a certain chaotic Loose Cannon?" Urgot's muscles tensed slightly, making Abraham continue "Yeah, i know about that, now i want you to turn around slowly... And don't try anything.." He pulled back the pump then pushed it back with a nice loud "Cha-Chung" to make sure the message got through. Urgot slowly turned, every step of his mechanical legs echoing ominously through the halls as his face finally graced Abraham's light.
Urgot glared at Abraham, his eyes expressing his absolute hatred, along with his breathing getting faster, made even more clear due to the breathing mask, made it clear, he was ready to fight. Abraham quickly stepped back as the dreadnought lunged forward to him, trying to use his shotgun legs to rip through his enemy. Thankfully, he was heavy, making the dreadnought slow but sturdy. Tired of trying to use his legs, Urgot aimed his right arm cannon at Abraham and fired in rapid succession, making the detective dodge roll towards the stair well then run up the stairs to the next floor.
Abraham looked left and right, finding himself in a massive office room with old cubicles. He could hear Urgot coming up and hurried into the cluster of cubicles, taking cover in one near the center of the room. As Urgot entered both could hear blasphemy and swearing coming from downstairs, Abraham could only make out something like "Wait till i get my guns!" and "I'll blow you up then blow your pieces up!" Urgot groaned, Jinx was conscious again and she was wailing like a banshee, giving both men a headache in a matter of minutes.
Downstairs Jinx was tied to a support column, blood ran down her head as she had a gash right at the base of her hair line, above her left eye. She kicked and struggled as she let out another scream as she got even more frustrated. She stopped for a moment, caught her breath then continued in her futile method of escape, not knowing that she was being watched by a pair of purple eyes in the shadows. Jinx groaned and thought out loud "Where is fishbones when you need him.." But got a reply "You can always ask for help.." as Kai'sa walked out of the shadows.
Jinx blinked, then started struggling again, yelling at Kai'sa "Get me out of here!" Kai'sa was gonna do it, but had to make sure of one thing first "Can i trust you to not kill us? We have been told of your... Habits... Of killing people.." Jinx glared then answered "Fine! Just get me out of this stupid thing!" Kai'sa complied with her request, firing off three small blasts of void energy to the chains and freeing the hyperactive Jinx. Jinx grinned then looked around, asking in a gleeful tone "So, where are my guns~?"
Upstairs Urgot was taking cover and waiting, Abraham managed to nail him with three shotgun shots and was waiting for him to reveal himself. Abraham on the other hand was in a similar situation, he ripped off his white shirt's sleeve and wrapped it around his left thigh, bandaging his gunshot wound. Urgot managed to get lucky and get one shot onto his leg, forcing him to play the waiting game with time he didn't have, he needed to do something, now. Thankfully, reinforcements arrived, with Kai'sa sending two spiraling missiles of void energy to Urgot, revealing his location to Abraham.
Abraham rushed Urgot, firing one shell after another, not allowing him to escape. Urgot took two more shots as he was cornered, stuck between the detective and the Daughter of the Void. But he wasn't done yet, he fired a corrosive shot at Abraham then charged at him, ready to tackle him down. But right as he was about to reach Abraham, he stopped, getting his leg stuck onto something. He looked and went wide eyed, it was one of Jinx's chompers, and it was about to detonate. As it exploded both Abraham and Kai'sa could hear Jinx laughing like a complete mad woman, at least until the smoke and dirt cleared, revealing a heavily damaged Urgot.
Thankfully the fight was over, Urgot fell unconscious with a loud thud, making all 3 of them sigh in relief. Yet this was short-lived as they could hear the police sirens arriving, the patrols and special task force surrounding the facility. Jinx looked at both of them then yelled at Kai'sa "You set me up!" and was about to shoot, until Abraham hurried and yelled "Quiet! We are all on the same boat." Then came the special forces, breaking through the walls and roof, surrounding them. Outside Caitlyn simply received "We got them." from the specialist captain, Caitlyn simply replying with "Take them in, we'll process them." as the rain lightened up.
In the distance the news vans and other media reporters arrived, forcing Caitlyn to put up another facade. She was willing to share information on the events that were going down, but due to League orders, couldn't. So she instructed everyone to hurry up before calling it a night and leaving without a word to the press. Jinx, Kai'sa and Abraham being taken the long way around, to avoid having rumors spreading.
And here we are with Chapter 1 of my League fic, for now this chapter is just to set the tone of the world i have decided to make, seeing how League is going through a hard time at the moment i won't say much, just for respect.
Note this fic is still in pending for either a single romance or Harem, if you guys have an opinion or thoughts, please let me know or make a suggestion. As the fic stands right now, there are three possible candidates. And just to get one thing straight, this will be AU, i will try to keep the champions move sets as close as they are to their in-game counterparts, but most (if not all) of the world and it's events will be my own work, so if you are a die hard fan, i am bowing my head to you, eating my pride whole and saying Sorry.
So Like Always, I'm still in the Trenches, and hope you Enjoyed.
