Request: First time Fishlegs and Heather say I love you to one another.

Fishlegs joined Heather by the dinner table as she stared wistfully into the bonfire.

She turned to smile at him upon sensing his presence next to her.

Across from them sat Hiccup and Astrid, lowkey flirting with each other. Heather elbowed Fishlegs softly in the ribs and nodded at the scene in front of them.

"Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" she whispered to him.

Fishlegs furrowed his eyebrows at first but soon caught on.

"They are still beating around the bush," he whispered back.

Heather groaned. "It's so frustrating to watch!"

Fishlegs chuckled. "Agreed."

He stayed behind with Heather in the clubhouse after all the other riders retreated for the night.

"Why can't they just confess their feelings for one another? What is stopping them?" she huffed while clearing off the tableware.

Fishlegs shrugged. "It's not always easy to put yourself out there I guess."

"Yes, but they both already know they have feelings for each other," Heather argued. "They have no need to fear rejection!"

Fishlegs pursed his lips thoughtfully. "You are getting awfully worked up over this," he noted jokingly.

Heather sighed.

"They are my friends and I want them to be happy. Astrid really wants to be with him but she is holding herself back for some reason."

"Astrid hasn't always been good at expressing herself," Fishlegs explained. "But.. you don't seem to be very vocal about your feelings either though."

He felt his face grow hot as she suddenly shot him a look.

"What do you mean?"

Fishlegs shook his head, avoiding making eye contact. "Nevermind, I-"

Heather held up a hand, interrupting him."You are referring to us, aren't you?"

Fishlegs stopped short, his breathing ragged and then nodded.

"If there is an 'us' that is."

Heather closed in on him, taking his hand to hold against her face. "Of course there is an 'us'."

Fishlegs smiled. "Well, I'm relieved to hear it."

Heather shot him a shy smile. "You do know I have feelings for you, right?"

"I do now," Fishlegs laughed nervously.

Heather leaned forward to kiss him and he closed his eyes to mesmerize the moment.

She pulled back and looked him straight in the eye. "I love you," she mumbled. "And I'm not afraid to say it. After everything I have been through, I'm no longer allowing myself to hide my feelings. I love you. It's something I never expected to do, but here it is."

Fishlegs leaned into her embrace, feeling his heart swell with emotion. "I love you too," he whispered. "Even though I don't deserve your love."

Heather snorted. "Of course you do, you big oaf. You deserve my love as much I deserve yours. We deserve each other."

Fishlegs grinned, blushing slightly.

Their lips met one final time before they departed for the night.
